There's no way I can pass this one up. 8) Clearly my choice is one of my favorite movies of all time. Gymkata. I love it, but boy is it bad. Bad premise, bad acting, bad dialogue, bad action, bad effects...getting the picture here? I'll give you the short version then a link so that you can see stills and learn more about it. Basically, an olympic gymnast (played by, you guessed it..an olympic gymnast, Kurt Thomas) is recruited to participate in a life or death game held in the tiny country of Parmistan. See, the US wants to set up it's Star Wars defense system and Parmistan is the prime location. So rather than take it by force, the US sends in a gymnast. "The Game" is where all the action takes place. Bad martial arts action with, I kid you not, Charlie Brown sound effects. There is sooo much to tell but I don't want to type a huge story here so I'm including a link so that you can see the glory of this movie with your own eyes. Enjoy. http://www.i-mockery.com/minimocks/gymkata/default.php

I really liked Eraserhead, but apparently the rest of the people in the theater didn't-by the end of the movie, I was the only one there!

Hmm...  I have two contenders.  These two both had me fidgeting and checking my watch, hoping they were about to end.  Remember "Bram Stoker's Dracula" starring Keanu Reeves?  Like, fangs, are so not cool, dude.  Anyone see "Chill Factor" with Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Skeet Ulrich?  This was a buddy pic with our two lovable misfits driving an icecream truck around a mountain to keep the chemical on board cool enough to keep from blowing up while they avoided the bad guy.  Oh, the zany, madcap hijinks.

It has to be "Rambo 2008."

John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) calls upon his long-buried but lethal skills to rescue a missionary (Julie Benz) and her comrades from the Burmese army.

My dh & I actually got this movie on PayPerView.  It was pretty bad - a 60 year-old Rambo?

I am not sure if anyone else remembers this but how about Howard the Duck. What an awful movie, my husband likes it and wants me to rent it from our Netflix account but I keep forgetting (conveniently). Thanks for the great contest.

doll graveyard, its a very homemade b horror movie, when the intro started with this lame fog machine and this over dramatic eletronica organ type music i started laughing hysterically till i had tears running down my face. so terrible its funny. and a few random comments:dracula wasnt that bad, i was a child of the 80's and howard the duck ruled so be kind to your hubby(dont tease him too bad), and the sound of music i love just because its a musical crazy tongue

Now, I've seen a number of awful movies.  Watched plenty of bad ones on Mystery Science Theatre 3000 - I remember one where the character is called by two different names in the movie - bad editing there!  And then, let's see, there are the lousy ones on Comedy Central, Logo, and SciFi Channel (the kinds that never made it to the theatre, but the TV stations decide to show anyway).

Still, I'm going to take this question to mean what was the worst film I've seen that was well received.  The ones we call "The Emperor's New Clothes" movies at our house - you know, the kind that gets great reviews but when you see it, you think "huh"?

And, I'm selecting a fairly recent film (rather than pick on, say, "The English Patient" or "Braveheart").  This movie received a good score (74%) on rottentomatoes.com with 144 reviews counted and 112 of them saying it was good.  My selection is:

"I'm Not There"

It's a film about Bob Dylan's life.  If you have ever listened to a Bob Dylan song and wondered about the people who call him a "genius" or (gasp) a "poet", you will get my feelings on this movie.  Because it was, folks, a 2 hour 15 minute long Bob Dylan song!  Confusing, pretentious, and annoying.  To start, 5 different actors play Bob Dylan in the film - including a young black male (Marcus Carl Franklin) and a woman (Cate Blanchett).  Then, none of them are actually called "Bob Dylan" in the movie - because, hey, that would make it too easy to follow, right?  One scene actually had two of them in it at the same time.  I found it torture, and even my husband, who has read Bob Dylan's autobiography and knows a lot about him, could not follow the plot.  Yes, people, this film "has no clothes on" and I'm the one willing to stand up and point it out!

There are so many, but the 1st that comes to mind is Transamerica.  pottytrain It was one of those I should have cut off after 15 minutes, but for some reason endured the entire movie and wondered at the end why we didn't turn it off after 15 minutes!

Thanks for the contest!! headbang

ha ha ha...I remember this movie and it was ummmm yep bad!

But the one that has my worse title I don't even remember the title.  Jimmie and I rented it when we were dating and it starts with this old truck driving down a road...then cuts to a hat flipping in the wind ~ this goes on for at least 10 minutes until we turn off the movie and got up and went to Sonic ~ lol!!!  It was terrible.  Maybe it got better, but after that beginning we didn't stick around to see...

We will still start a movie and be like 'I hope this isn't one of those hat flipping in the wind movies' crazy tongue
