No one makes real buttercream anymore. I need a cake for my son's christening, but I don't have time to make it myself; and everyone's idea of buttercream now is Crisco and margarine. How can you even call something buttercream when there's no butter in it!  I have no idea what I'm going to do for a cake!  |

Our SA bakery hasn't been on for awhile, but I can tell you that she could make it! I won a goodie basket last year and picked a strawberry cake and it was the best cake ever ~ rande1027 is her name on here ~ Rhonda is talented!!! Best truffles I have ever eaten.

We live on the North Fork (eastern end) of Long Island. With my daughter's Christening cake, we went over to the Hamptons to a upscale well-known bakery (they were also featured several times on the food network). I ordered a buttercream cake from them. Yes, there was butter in it; but I could tell it was still cut with Crisco. I was ticked for what we paid for it.  |

Tammy, Rhonda had surgery on her back and some family things going on. I sure do miss her truffles. They were so darn good! Now, since she is busy, I thought I heard someone bribing me with brownies. I still haven't received the double stuff, so the brownies better be mighty good! Are we playing nice? I saw GSW poke her head in.  I tell you, I am more afraid of her than my mama and trust me, my mama is one mean woman! Now, instead of picking on the poor souls from other sites, might I suggest something more constructive to do with your time, like maybe enter a sweep or two. Did you know that right now there are 914 expiring on September 30? That's right, I said 914!!! Now get at it. I really want to see all SAers on those winners list. Don't disappoint me or we will be talking gourmet chocolates next! And maybe some caramel popcorn as I never had much of a taste for that other stuff! |

Normally, I do lots of cooking and baking; but we've been renovating the house which included the kitchen being gutted. Everything went into box and into another room. The kitchen has been done for quite awhile; but with my pregnancy and having physical problems and the baby being born, I've only gotten half of the kitchen stuff back in. I just can't function in a kitchen that's not set up properly. Now, if someone would like to come over and set up and organize the rest of my kitchen, I'll be more than happy to bake them whatever they want!!  |
