If you visit the Forum section on any sweepstakes website<\/a>, at some point you will encounter a debate about what is cheating and what isn't.\u00a0 Some sweepers hold themselves to impossibly high standards and some will do anything to try to win.\u00a0 Most of us are somewhere in between.<\/p>\n

SweepsAdvantage and SweepstakesPlus<\/a> post a summary of the rules<\/a> and include a rules link with every listing.\u00a0 We do not create the rules or pick the winners.\u00a0 Including a rules link allows you to determine for yourself what the sponsor's intent is.<\/p>\n

Over the years, I have seen the spectrum of sweeper interpretations<\/a> of the rules.\u00a0 I remember one person posting that she had accidentally entered a One Entry for the second time and had written to the sponsor to officially disqualify herself.\u00a0 On the other end, I have seen sweepers brag that they have created 30 emails so that they can enter as often as they want, no matter what the rules say.<\/p>\n

Personally, I think the person in the first example was overreacting, and the second individual was selfish and an embarasment.\u00a0 But that's just my opinion.\u00a0 The sponsors who award the prizes<\/a> have the final say on how to interpret the rules.\u00a0 A relaxed sponsor may choose to send out prizes without researching the entrants.\u00a0 A strict sponsor may refuse to give out a prize if they even suspect that an entrant has cheated.<\/p>
