I too tend to avoid sweepstakes like this with no cash alternative or supplement. I agree that the tax amount does seem high for that value.

So these turned out to be free samples of Zebra ballpoint pens. I got one X 701 military grade pen that can write in extreme weather conditions with two bonus refills, and one F 701. To be honest, I don't do much writing these days, but maybe I'll use these to sign/write my checks.

So I looked closer at the tracking and it says "Sample Fulfillment Marketing." So I guess it's just a sample of some sort. Ah well.
