To disable JAVA;

For IE - go to ALL PROGRAMS>CONTROL PANEL>ADD/REMOVE>JAVA

Open JAVA's CONTROL PANEL>select the JAVA tab>click on VIEW and MANAGE and uncheck ENABLED, click apply/OK.

For FF - TOOLS>ADDONS>PLUGINS, and select DISABLE for any JAVA you see

Java Threat

If you're going to keep Java on your system but disable it make sure the only Java you have is Java 7 update 11 and uninstall any other Java ie Java 6 etc. If you don't you leave yourself vunerable.
