A strange thing happened on the way to ...

Life is really strange sometimes! If you think the world is a big place ... boy do I have a story for you!

As some of you know I work at the San Juan Community Theatre as the guy that sets up for the visiting performers from off island. Last night we had a Irish music concert with about 16 artists.

Of course, anytime we get a group from Ireland I just "have" to chat them up and tell them about my stay there. So I asked the group if any of them had ever been to Clifden on the west coast. One lady perked up and wanted to know all about it.

It sort of puzzled me, but I am always willing to yak my jaws, so I told her all about my stay there 15 years ago and the wonderful B&B I stayed in. And how great the lady was that owned the place. And how we would go and play darts and swill beer at Peter O'Toole's bar in town.

Next thing I know she is asking me all sorts of questions about the B&B and about the owner. Now I am not talking about just a couple of questions ... I felt like I was being grilled by the FBI. When? Where? How? Why? What road? Uphill side or down? How far out of town? What did she look like? What color hair? How many kids? What was her favorite bar? What was her name? (I couldn't remember)

After that I just had to ask her a few. She had been to Clifden? Yes. Had she been to the Maam Cross fair? Yes. Why was she asking so many questions? So she looked at me, winked and ...

... said that it is her Aunt Margaret who owns the B&B!

I was so shocked I just about dropped my bottle of Guinness! :crazytongue:

So if anybody tells you that the world is an awfully big place ... don't believe them! It is indeed a mighty small planet! :) :) :)

I am thinking that I might just have to plan another vacation to Clifden, Ireland! I've got enough air miles to upgrade to first class on a trip to Europe! :sunny:

I love it when things like that happen! And, I think it means that you should definitely go. You just purchased that nice passport wallet, and were talking about Ireland.....and then this!

I look forward to reading about your plans for your trip. First class? Nice.

yup it is a small world - you should definitely return!

Equally strange - On our trip to the NASCAR race, in Las Vegas, we were riding in the limo with the big winner, Dr. Bryan Fox. He says he is from Virgina - I say cool, that is where my oldest brother lives. Dr. asks what's his name - after I tell him, he ponders a moment then asks, is his wife's name Linda - I was astonished - Yup it is Linda.

Turns out he was her surgeon when she broke her leg 18 months earlier - weird and spooky! I texted my brother and said what was Linda's surgeon's name - the answered back - Dr. Bryan Fox . . . . Small World.

:sunny: I love those type of stories. There are just some people in our small world that we are destined to meet.
