Entry Category : Daily

I don't know how many of you have been entering the "sweepstake" part of this, but there is also a "contest" part of it also that is only open to folks who have stayed at one of their hotels. I just happen to be one of thiose lucky folk because of my stay in Florida last month!!!!

The whole object of the contest is to describe how staying at a World's Best Hotel" fulfilled a "Quest". I reproduced my entry below:

"DREAMS DO COME TRUE"

MIAMI023e.jpg

I won a sweepstakes trip to Miami. Where to stay? Why not make it a Quest to stay in the best Hotel possible? After intensive searching Fisher Island Resort was chosen.

Situated on it’s own private island just off South Beach it was the perfect place! The travel agent said that was okay! I was shocked! A wish comes true: Staying in a true luxury Hotel with sun, sand, and surf. I must have been dreaming.

Arriving in Miami I was met by a limo and escorted to the Island. Soon I was ensconced in a gorgeous oceanfront suite they had upgraded me to. Amazing! Over the next few days the staff, especially Jose the bartender, worked together to assure me the best vacation I have ever had.

What could be better? What Quest could possibly be left for me?

Maybe staying at the LHW La Mamounia in Marrakech, Morocco????

They are only picking ten of the entries to be voted on. Do you think I'll get lucky????

You can view the other entries at http://www.questofalifetime.com/gallery

Hopefully I will be pestering all of you for votes after the 5th of December when they've picked the lucky 10 finalists!!! :) :) :)

Oh the rules state:

a. Contest:
I. Judging Phase: During the Judging Phase, qualified judges determined
by Sponsor, in its sole discretion, will select the top ten (10) Submissions
(each a “Finalist”) based on the following criteria (“Judging Criteria”):
• Creativity (33%);
• Originality (33%); and
• Appropriateness to "Quest" Theme (34%).
In the event of a tie, Sponsor, in its sole discretion, will determine the
Finalist based on the Submission that received the highest score in the
Appropriateness to "Quest" Theme category.

II. Voting Phase: During the Voting Phase, the Finalists' Submissions will
be posted on the Website in a viewing gallery for public voting. Only those
individuals who meet the eligibility criteria set forth in Section 1 and have
registered to participate in the Promotion will be eligible to vote for their
favorite Finalist. Finalists are permitted to vote for their own Submissions.
Limit: Each individual may vote one (1) time per day during the Voting
Phase. The Finalist who receives the highest vote tally during the Voting
Phase will be the Contest Grand Prize winner, and the Finalists who
receive the next two (2) highest vote tallies will be the Runner-Up Prize
and Second Runner-Up Prize winners respectively. Notwithstanding the
foregoing, Sponsor, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to select
alternate winners should the voting appear to have been tampered with or
manipulated in any way. In case of a tie, Sponsor, in its sole discretion,
will select the winner from amongst the tied Finalists based on an
application of the Judging Criteria. Each potential Contest winner will be
notified by mail, email or phone on or around January 6, 2010.

Alot of folk seem to not have read the rules! LOL

Looks finals-worthy to me!

And yes, it looks as if folks did not read the rules--my favorite is one about staying in Chicago and talking about Portillos hot dogs instead of the hotel.

Good luck!

:nono: :nono:

Remember: I am not asking for votes! (not yet anyways  ) The mods will slap my fingers and move this post to the request place if they think I am! :crazytongue:

It is a little weird though ... they haven't posted my entry yet. BUT, it is being ran and maintained by ePrize and they just LOVE to take their sweet time doing anything. If it doesn't show up by next week I will enter it again.

Oh, another contest I entered:

http://sillycakescontest.womansday....ding&dirsortorder=Ascending&file=40283&page=7

This year's pumpkin. (there's no voting on this one, the editors will pick the winner)

How could this be construed as a vote request?

The voting doesn't start until December and your entry is not even on that site yet...I'm sure that if and when the time comes you
will post it in vote requests.

Great pumpkins! Yours is cute, Loren. It's going to be tough to judge. I looked at the first 50, which included Obama, Buddah, Michael Jackson.

I thought these were extra unique: Nos. 22, 38, 44

you like them pukeing pumpkins eh? :crazytongue: there is 4 or 5 of them. copied from a winning pumpkin in some contest last year.

there some good ones ... but i hate those "transfer" pattern pump'ins. where is the creativity in that???

i have 2 pics of mine #66, 67. front and side during the day. he is actually standing above the ground on wire feet I made for him

He does light up!

Loren,

Your night cat looks great. I'm disappointed that the puking pumpkins were copycats from last year. I liked them because they took me by surprise...(and reminded me a bit of Calvin's snow people)...so much for originality. I agree about the transfers, they look good but they are like entering a costume contest with a store-bought pre-packaged costume.

So, who won? I checked the site, but didn't search far enough to see if winners were selected/posted.

Don't know who won ... can't access the rules anymore so I can't find the judgeing date. Maybe some day they will post it somewhere on their site.

(note: found the rules ... and they don't say when the judging is. bummer.)

Thanks!

Maybe they picked half the winner's out of a hat. Some were outstanding...but they should rename the contest, as it isn't just "carving."

Still like yours a lot. Will it become a pie? I was traumatized when I came home from school one November day to find my mother had cooked our pumpkins. I always use canned.

I've got 2 on the porch that are destined for the oven, slow cooker, and the .... yep .... the blender!!!!! :headbang:

There is nothing like a good old-fashioned baked from scratch Pump'in Pie!!!

Since I lost the pumpkin carving contest ... here's how I feel about pumpkins:

:headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

 Sorry to hear that you weren't selected as one of the winners. There is a bright side though. You have a whole year to practice and come up with a new entry for next year!
