Baby Chipmunk

Does anyone know anything about baby chipmunks? My cat caught one. Poor little thing is in shock. I've fostered baby bunnies & kittens before, but never chipmunks. He perks up if I keep him warm, but then when I put him in the cage, he just sort of falls over & lays there. Anyone have any ideas?

This may sound a bit complex. Make a fake mother chipmonk with a heating rock inside with a kitten or rabbit feeder where the nipple should be. Put it next to it. Either it will work or won't.

Make sure to limit all explorer to yourself and any pets or other people in your house. Putting the cage next to a window with the half of the cage that faces into your house covered with a cage.

Thanks both. Fed him with a recipe the Pennsylvania Fish & game people gave me. Did NOT know I shouldn't use woodchips, maybe that was a part of the problem. We'll see.

You should stay in close contact with them, they will know exactly what to do.

Actually, what they are is pretty good about telling you not to bother, it will die anyway. But I've proved them wrong before, so :crazytongue: to those who say "Can't."

Re: Baby Chipmunk Update

Sorry to say, the chipmunk died at 8;15 this evening, most likely from shock or sepsis from cat bites.
