Confused about this prize

I won a bouncy box ...flashlight and I am grateful for the win,but... the winning box said it was valued at $69.99 but when I click on the link to see it in Amazon it says it is $17.99 has anyone else had this happen?

Almost all ARV's are over-inflated. The only time I question it is when I have to pay the taxes on a large win. Also, Amazon prices constantly fluctuate, so it could be worth a million dollars one minute, and 1 cent the next minute. Don't worry about the price, and just enjoy the win. Congratulations.

I have been a sweeper for 20 years, I keep track of my winnings so I can claim them on my taxes so yes I will and I can "worry" about the price of any prize I win. But thank you for your input.

When you win a sweepstakes prize, you are only required by the IRS to report the fair market value (FMV), not the sponsor's approximate retail value (ARV); but how do you go about finding out what the FMV is and how do you handle the difference on your taxes? Find out here.
