Well I have been on the biggest losing streak that I took a break for a few weeks but have continued to check my losing emails. Today to my surprise I see a congratulations email and I am like thank goodness, I really needed this one! Well I won the opportunity to have my photo featured in lucky breaks. Um??? So I am somewhat disappointed but then figure what the heck I will send in a pic. But the tips are like crazy long. I think I would have to hire a photographer.
Wow! I am going to send in a pic but I don't know if I am going to get picked. Did anyone else get this email or am I actually special?
Step 1: Take as many pictures as possible!
The more choices we have, the more likely it is that well find the perfect picture for the Lucky Breaks promo page. So please send us as many options as possible! If you dont want to take any new images, you can send us your favorite photos from Facebook, Myspace, etc. That way well have tons of flattering pictures to choose from (and you can always send us more photos later if need be).
Step 2: Pick the perfect outfit
We recommend you pick solid, rich-looking colors that will be the most flattering to your skin-type (and most importantly: not wash you out). Take pictures in 2-3 different outfits if you can so well have a variety of options to choose from.
Step 3: Find the best backdrop
Its important to keep your backdrop as clutter-free as possible. When inside, try to find a space with a simple (but not blank) backdrop and lots of natural light. If youre outside, you might try standing near a grouping of trees, or next to the outer wall of your home or apartment building for texture and interest. And try more than one location!
Step 4: Get the lighting just right
Did you know when a light source is shining brightly (and directly overhead) you could actually be creating dark shadows across your face, emphasizing wrinkles and blemishes, and cause squinting? You can avoid this outdoors by taking pictures early in the day or late in the afternoon. For indoor shots: find a room that has as much natural light as possible, turn all the lights on, and bring additional lighting into the room if possible. Try placing lamps in different spaces around the room to see what gives you the most natural glow.
Step 5: Get the right angle
The most flattering photos are taken when the camera is at the subjects eye level or even slightly from above (but rarely from below). If youre pictures are looking off, try tilting your head slightly upwards.
Step 6: Keep the shots close
