Couponing

Lately, I have another hobby: couponing as a money saving/free food racket. I'm buying a lot of stuff I don't normally buy, such as cereal and frozen pizza snacks and biscuits. It seems about 50% of the coupons are for high carb foods, like I'm being fattened up for the slaughter. Hopefully, the novelty will wear off and I'll buy only what I should eat.

Are you a coupon fiend? Care to pass along some tips?

I do love coupons and when I first started I was like you buying stuff I really don't need lol now all I do is really use the ones I want and actually use.

Lately what I love is being to get the ones in the mail from sweep sites that offer free stuff or a large amount off like that johnsons one I posted in the freebies section. I was able to get 2 of those because I printed 2 coupons at $4 off and the body wash was on sale.

That's the best advice right there use the coupons when the items are on sale.

I am a coupon fiend too...but unfortunately no place in my town offers double or triple coupon days but I always use a coupon if I have one for the things I buy...every little bit of savings helps nowadays! my uncle even cuts out coupons in VA and sends them to me cuz he knows I use them LOL.

I cut them out and put them with my shopping list. Then I walk out the door and leave both sitting on the counter. every single time.

I'm a coupon cutter too, though some of our local stores won't accept printed coupons from sites like CoolSavings.com. Anyone who's reading this, sign up for the store discount cards from grocery stores and CVS for extra savings. Also, if you have young children, you can register those card numbers at UPromise.com and get money back for college. It takes a long time to add up, but it's free money.

I always cut them out but rarely use them. I do like CVS though with their electronic bucks or whatever they call them. Good way to get a few great deals when you combine coupons with freebies.

Why not see about starting a coupon trading forum? Post what coupons you are looking for and trade with others? I'd be interested in doing that. :headbang:

I've been couponing for over 20 years. I go tandem in the grocery store. I use one shopping cart for my coupons (big rubbermaid box) and one for the groceries. I'm one of those people that either gets things for free or next to nothing. We don't spend all that much on groceries at all.

Yes, this is a good idea. I come across lots of pet food coupons I don't need, and could use more coupons for stuff like dairy products.

I am a coupon shopper also! :headbang:

I grocery shop once a month and save all the coupons that I use all month. It's not a big savings at the end of the month and it depends on the coupons they have in the paper each week but what I do if it's 20 or 30 buxs I save using coupons I put that money into savings and in a year my savings has really grown. :sunny:

I have tried the coupon trade before. What we need is to get the adminstrators permission to start one through the site and then start a coupon train. Limits need to be set on how many people per train. The train needs a conductor and then a list of how the train should go. Each person should be responsible for throwing out old coupons, but replacing the same amount or close to the ones that they take out to use. The train should go in the same order until a person drops out, then they need to accept a new member.

It works really well if everyone follows the rules. Yes, I am VERY interested!

I started out clipping coupons. I don't really that much anymore because you always have to buy so much to get the discount most times. Most of the coupons are on items that are higher priced anyway and have found that buying store brands are still cheaper even with the coupons. Occasionally I do find a decent coupon to use on something I regularly buy that does not require you to buy 3 or 4 items.
