Has anyone ever used a credit repair agency? If so, did you get good results from them?

I am trying to buy my family a house over the summer and need a few things fixed on my credit... the lender reccommended a repair company to me and I did end up using them... It's been about (3) weeks and so far they have sent out dispute letters to the bureaus.... I will give them 2-3 months and see what they have done in this timeframe to have the negetive items dropped from my credit reports.... It only cost me $99 to use their service...

I cringe when I hear about these agencies. Between these agencies and many of the credit counseling services, people get scammed and taken to the cleaners. Do a search of the agency to find any complaints that might be filed against them. Is the lender recommending them affiliated with the agency? Is the lender a bank or one of these predator mortage companies?

One thing I want to really drive home to you. If they recommend you applying for a new tax id number and applying for credit using that number, DO NOT DO IT! That is fraud and can land your sorry behind in jail! :headbang:

Just be careful to check out any company carefully, and BEFORE you give them your Social security number.

the lender said that this is who they use when they have buyers that need things off of their reports and help to get their score back up....

No they haven't asked me to go and get new credit cards or anything like that.... they just dispute and send out legal letters to the creditors challenging the reporting they did for some items that should have not been reported....

So far they have removed (1) item from my reports and (2) more should be coming off also....

So I am happy with their service but i will cancel within another 45 days and go back to the lender to see what i qualify for....
