Decrease in voting contests

Has there been a decrease in the number of voting contests or is that just my imagination?

I feel like I haven't been seeing any, and I notice that the vote request forum here does not seem to have as much action as it used to.

I think you're right. It might be for the best though. I seem to recall allegations of rigging/shenanigans/drama associated with those that would pop up quite a bit. The sponsors may have just gotten tired of hearing about/dealing with it. Any contest that's worth people entering would mostly utilize some form of professional judging imo.

I think voting contests are awful, even though I know some people really like them.

I know that voting contests create a lot of buzz for a company, but I feel like a company can generate a lot of buzz with a contest that does not have the voting component.

When I see a sweepstakes is chosen by the person with the most votes, I skip right over it, lol! It just feels like I have not had to skip over very many recently.

I hear ya! I'm probably not the target market for contests though... when I see a sweepstakes that requires a "low effort" photo entry that isn't even going to be looked at I get conflicted about the extra work. lol :D

Voting contests are popularity/connections over merit - I detest them w/the fires of 1,000 suns!
