Facebook Verification? Keep having to verify my Facebook account?

Hi! I'm fairly new to sweepstaking and have set up a separate Facebook account just for sweepstaking, reasons being:

1) I don't want my wall and everybody else's news feed to be spammed with my sweepstakes entering as it seems a lot of Facebook sweepstakes require you share the sweepstakes and post a short comment about it, sometimes in order to get that extra entry.

2) I don't really want all my family & friends to know I 'like' Charmin Toilet Paper, Lotrimen Ultra Jock Itch Cream, or Vagisil Cream, or whatever.

I'm really not too sure how much of #1 and #2 are visible, say on a family or friends news feed, but I'd really like to keep my personal and sweepstaking Facebooks separate, as some people who do know I sweepstake are making fun of me (my daughter).

Lately I've been getting booted off of Facebook a lot, being required to 'verify' that I'm real (Captcha), and even then having to type in my phone # and wait for a phone call from Facebook with a special code. It happened to me late last night and again this morning, I guess because I've been entering a lot of sweepstakes.

I'm worried though that they are going to lock me out of my FB account? Is there any way to get around this? Is it because on my sweepstaking FB account I have no 'friends'? If so, will somebody please add me? Getting booted off of FB last night cost me a second entry. And if I can't enter FB sweepstakes, my list is going to shrink pretty fast. Should I create another FB account using maybe my middle name?

It's actually against facebook rules to set up 2 accounts. I know some people do it, but I wouldn't want to chance it. There is a way in the settings to set it so that most people can't see it, I don't know how to do it. I just unfriend people that want to laugh at me, or complain about it. People can take Facebook way too seriously, and if they get mad I unfriended them I just tell them I stopped using it for anything but sweepstakes. And I skipped the fredericks of Hollywood contest because I didn't want the rest of the world to see it.

Yea, I know people do it because I remember reading about it in one of the sweepstakes books I read, that and having a separate email address. (I learned the latter the hard way.)

Do you happen to know if they'll cancel my personal Facebook account if I get 'caught'? Also, a lot of the Facebook sweeps want access to my friends list - do you know if they'll have access to their email addresses and start spamming my friends? I know I don't want to get spammed so I wouldn't want to give out their info either.

I have to admit, I don't have a good grasp on how Facebook works and how much of what I'm doing is visible in the news feeds to family and friends. If anybody here knows how to hide my Facebook, let me know. Thanks!

hahaha, by the way;-) I'm going to have to find and enter that one. lol

I have heard that they will cancel both, but I don't think I have heard it from a reputable source. I have never had a problem with them spamming my friends, but I do skip the ones that say they want to post for me.

Might try this. Found it in a Google Search:

How To Block Recent Activity

The other big issue is how news feed stories are published every time you join a group or join a Facebook Page. While Pages that you join will always be public information, you can prevent stories from being generated which notify your friends that you recently became a fan. Unfortunately Facebook has removed the news feed settings from before, however you can still control the visibility of most content by modifying your privacy settings in conjunction with your application settings.

While we published the basic idea behind preventing embarrassing news feed stories in the article “How To Avoid A Facebook Photo Tagging Disaster“, we’ve created a short video to help you understand how to control those events, groups, photos, videos, and pages that generate feed stories. In short, by visiting the application settings page of those applications that are “Allowed to Post”, you can customize which applications, can or cannot post stories to your profile without prompting you first.

For example, if I no longer want my friends to be notified of new Facebook Page that I’ve joined, I can visit the application settings page linked in the last paragraph, and scroll down to where it says “Ads and Pages”. Next, click on “Edit Settings” and in the dialog box which pops up, click on “Additional Permissions”. You can then uncheck the box next to “Publish recent activity” if you don’t want your friends to be notified about new Facebook Pages that you have become a fan of.
