Free Coupons & Store Issues

I love winning coupons for free food/drinks but it is getting almost impossible to get them redeemed. I won a few Craisans coupons and love them. It took 3 people-including 2 from management to approve one coupon.

I also won the Poland Springs water coupons and almost need an act of Congress to get them approved.

My grocery store (a major chain) says it is a combination of fraudulent coupons and the coupon not having absolutely correct information. For ex. the size may be correct on the bag and coupon but the net weight differs by a fraction so bar code doesn't work and needs to be overridden. This makes the store suspicious.

I was told one of their employees was docked 3 days pay because she accepted a coupon that looked good but someone had created it on a computer. That is unfair to that employee, honest shoppers (sweepers), and the mfrs who just want people to try out their products.

Is anyone else having an issue with their stores hesitant to redeem their coupons?

Thanks, just had to vent.

Re: Free Coupons & Store Issues

The only problem I have had is Walmart doesn't accept coupons for free products or Bogo coupons. So i take them next door to meijer and they accept them.

I havent had too much trouble. There is one Walmart that almost treats you like a criminal when you have coupons like that, but most of the Walmarts by me are just fine. Meijer is usally fine at taking them too.

 Most of the stores here will not except computer downloaded and printed coupons for FREE items, but other than that I haven't had any problems with coupons that were mailed.

Re: Free Coupons & Store Issues

I had the same problem with a Dole free fruit coupon. Walmart, Ralph's and Albertsons (in California) do not take free internet coupons due to fraud. I emailed back and forth to ePrize and Dole to see if they would send me a real coupon. They were unable to help me with this and I was told to "work with" my local stores. Like they are going to change their policy because I had a legitimate coupon. Not happening. Usually the sponsors are more helpful and will send you a replacement product. Meanwhile, as I was searching for a store to take my coupon, it expired. We can only let the sponsors know of the problems and hopefully they will listen.

Re: Free Coupons & Store Issues

I should have read the other responses first, but didn't. I will just start by saying I am sorry if I seem contrary, but I have not had any of those sorts of redemption problems. I have had a problem getting to the right store before they are outdated a couple times, but that is my fault. It seems they give you at least 2-3 months that the coupon is good, if not longer...so, I guess that should be enough time. Sorry you are having trouble.

This is true in my part of TX as well.
