Getting rid of furniture

Some of you may recall that my mother passed away in May  and I find myself unable to donate furniture that she owned and I don't want to keep. There's a full sized bed, night table and a large mirrored armoire.

Three charities (including the Salvation Army) rejected the stuff as too big, and I'm not sure what to do next. I don't want to put it out with the trash and I don't really want strangers from Craigslist or Freecycle to come to the house.

I might try an eBay local listing but it's still strangers coming into the house. Any ideas?

Stick it in a store that handles comission stuff, find somebody to haul it to an auction. Any local antique dealers should be able to point you in the right direction. Auctions are an easy way to get rid of anything.

I don't know about your neighborhood, but in mine, if you put anything outside (besides trash) Someone will usually get it within the hour.

You might want to think about about the local Red Cross ~ they might have a family that has had their house burn down that would really really appreciate some good furniture if you are able to go that way. I know how hard that can be also, but it is something for you to think about...good luck with whatever you choose.

My Momma died three years ago and we are still going through some of her stuff ~ somethings are just to hard to part with!
