QUESTION 1:  (Travelers)

I'm lovin the Sunset at the Palms resort in Jamaica..... I'm very close to picking up thephone and calling aaa travel to get a quote.... I love how it looks like the jungle

When it come to reservations never make them 8 months out! :nono: What happens is that something better will come along. 6 months out max, 3-4 months if you just can't wait! But remember, no less than 1 month. Resorts will be happy to take your money now, but use this time to explore the possiblities. That will give you a better idea of cost between places.

Of course, since this is for a honeymoon it is likely that the father-in-law is going to shell out for it. But remember that his Visa Card is more dear to him than a daughter-in-law ... or even his own wife for that matter! :crazytongue: You don't want to send him into cardiac arrest UNTIL after you marry his kid!

I will look into various "pamper me rotten" all-inclusive resorts. And post them in another thread: "Holidays For Honeymooners!"

There are a lot of resources one can use to find out the "real" truth about a resort, besides their pretty website pictures..

Thanks for the tips... I'll kick back and see what you come up with... oh and i did call aaa travel.... they were pretty high versus what i have been looking at online... Any help from members here is greatly appreciated....

Oh and my "father-in-law" has passed about 15 years ago.... so fiance and i are paying for wedding & honeymoon....

Our budget for a honeymoon is around $3,000-$4,000 ... that is including flight,hotel. that's why it's so crucial to find good all-inclusive resort...... :sunny:

Do me a favor.

First, Answer  HONESTLY those questions for me.

Secondly, why do you want to do an all inclusive resort?  Do you think it is the cheapest way to go?  a good bargain?  afraid to step out? afraid of getting mugged? Never traveled?

That is why you need to do the survey for me.  I have done some preliminary "cost looks" at these resorts. They run from $2,400 to $3,400+ for 7 nights for 2 people.  That is A LOT OF MONEY!  It works out to $340-500.00 a night.   :scratch:  (and you won't have any money left for them donkey rides!) 

If you have never seen one these places ... they are a HUGE hotels (500-600 rooms) right on the beach,  Just 300 yards beachfront with chainlink / barbed-wire fences running 60' out into the water on each side,  and flanked on the land side with 10' tall concrete block walls topped with broken glass or concertina wire!  The 'jungle' GARDEN is usually 1000 sq. feet inside the fence.   :crazytongue:  SERIOUS!  They remind me of prisons!

Might as well stay in a hotel in downtown SanFran or LA. because we haven't even looked at airfare yet.  (But by wheeling and dealing that is no problem usually.)

A good guideline for folks that AREN'T rich is about $100.00/night.  Plus add $50.00/day for food.  In total that runs about $1,200.   Let's toss in about $800 extra for airfare. (it won't be that much) That would leave you $2,000 to do that extra stuff!  Fun Stuff!  Neat Stuff!!  "Take a picture of that!" stuff!!!

I know I can find you a dream honeymoon in Jamaica that you will remember for a lifetime ... but it is more than likely It would not be at a goofy resort.

So, once again ... A,B,C, or D.  Seriously ... humor me ... I will keep looking at them,  but I think you would like what I can find for you.

(Ps:  for $4,000 I could send you both to Tirtaganga, Eastern Bali:  Including Airfare, 4 Days transit in Kuta Beach, then food, entertaiment, a large Bungalow on the side of a volcano overlooking the rice terraces that run clear down to the sea, staff that will climb the trees to pick you ripe tropical fruit, an ancient Rajah's Water palace with 7 pools and stone critters that squirt water, a temple, your own personal 'boy' ...  FOR 2 MONTHS!!!!

*out of the research i've been finding, they suggest that for honeymoons, you get the best for your buck if you go all-inclusive... unlimited drinks/food.
*i don't care for the 2 star hotels (at all)
*i like to feel like i'm in complete luxury when on vacation (especially since it's a honeymoon)
*i'd like for us to pick something we don't have here in cali
*we picked jamaica because earlier today when i googled to see popular honeymoon destinations, and the time of year we'll need to travel, it said the carribean
