Since I travel a lot and get all the email newsletters from travel companies I thought I would start a thread listing various items I consider to be a super-good deal!

As I come across these I will post them in this thread instead of starting a new one each time. If you come across a 'super deal' post it here!

So for today:

From "Travel Zoo Top 20":

$499 -- Ireland 6-Night Vacation w/Car & Air; When 4 Travel...

http://vacations.travelzoo.com/european-vacations/470171?utm_source=top20_us&utm_medium=email_top20

Sceptre Tours just announced an amazing deal to Ireland for less than the current cost of air alone to Ireland. You'll receive all of the following for only $499 per person when 4 people travel together between November-March:

Roundtrip airfare to Shannon from New York, Washington, D.C. and Boston. Chicago, Orlando and San Francisco are just $25-$80 more
6 nights in a 3-bedroom townhouse at the scenic Bunratty Castle Gardens
Full-size rental car with unlimited mileage
Bunratty Castle Gardens is located in County Clare, offering perfect access for day trips throughout western and southwestern Ireland. Don't miss nearby sights like the Cliffs of Moher, Ring of Kerry and Blarney Stone, or popular towns like Galway and Killarney.

Sceptre Tours is also giving you the option to relocate your 6-night stay to other locations in the West of Ireland ranging from popular Galway, to the small towns like Ennis, Doolin, and Doonbag.

Despite the fact that you need to tack on various taxes and costs on to this ... it is still a VERY good deal since it includes lodging AND rental car. Basically the cost of the airfare is free. I have been to Ireland before and lodging will run you $120-130 per person per night at the current exchange rate.

The West Coast of Ireland is fabulous and should be on everyone's "to-do list"!!!!

This offer rates a 7+ on my 'loren-o-matic' 1-10 scale!!!!! If you are on the West Coast it's a 9.5

The best bet is for a west coast traveler since the $80.00 air-add-on is NOTHING! Grab it when it's here ... expires the 7th.

Great Aussie Fares!!!!!

"Qantas Airways just released a fare sale that created quite a stir at our editor's desk. For $695 roundtrip, you can fly nonstop to Sydney or Brisbane from Los Angeles (LAX) or nonstop to Sydney from San Francisco (SFO). This beats the best fare we've seen all year by at least $200."

It isn't as great of deal as sounds once you add in all the fine print at the bottom but it is still about $300 less than normal from LA or SF.

Can you find some for Jamicia or Bahamas?  Any Carribean travel would work... All-inclusive if possible... for June 2009-July 2009 travel dates

Sounds like fun!   You've got a deal!  Your own personal travel consultant will jump right on it!

But of course, in order to do my job correctly, you need to answer a few "multiple-guess" questions!

QUESTION 1:  (Travelers)

  • [li]A.  I got the guest spot on "Bridezillas" and will be traveling alone this year.[/li]
[li]B.  The  honeymoon's just starting!  There will be 2 starry-eyed folk on this one.[/li]
    [li]C.  I'm a little kinky so:  "Three's Company"!  (Mr. Roper isn't invited though)[/li]

Question 2:  (Duration)

  • [li]A.  My mailman gets lonely after 3 days.[/li]
[li]B.  Less than a week makes one weak.[/li]
    [li]C.  The crab-bait dog next door barks 24/7,  so I don't care if I ever come back![/li]
[li]D.  Do they throw illegal immigrants in jail?[/li]

Question 3:  (Transportation: how do I get there?)

  • [li]A.   I get seasick.[/li]
    [li]B.   I get airsick.[/li]
    [li]C.   I do a great backstroke.[/li]
    [li]D.   Is there Greyhound service?[/li]

Question 4:  (Transportation: Time dynamics)

  • [li]A.   When in the H... is this D... questionaire gonna be F...... finished????[/li]
[li]B.   I can beat OJ in a dash through the arrival lounge.[/li]
[li]C.   I can live through standing in line at the DMV. If I have to.[/li]
[li]D.   Airport Lounges make me feel warm and comfy.[/li]

Question 5.   (Transportation: Comfort levels)

  • [li]A.   Where is my Champagne and Caviar while this d... crate is warming up?[/li]
[li]B.   Oh, did I mention this is a 'Business' trip?  Where's my Bourbon?[/li]
[li]C.   I love screaming children, 10 people holding a 100 decible chat in Farsi, and 2.75" between seats.[/li]
[li]D.   Is there room in the cargo hold with the Cheetah?[/li]

Question 6.  (Transportation: Getting around on arrival)

  • [li]A.   To the hotel, James.  And don't run over any of the d... locals if you can help it.[/li]
[li]B.   $80.00 is a small price to pay for a nice clean cab![/li]
[li]C.   These airport shuttle buses are so convienent and quaint![/li]
    [li]D.   Is there a donkey cart I can rent?[/li]

Question 7.  (Lodging:  Comfort Level)

  • [li]A.   Bell-boy! Grab the luggage, and make sure there is plenty of caviar in the d... wet-bar.[/li]
[li]B.   AC, King Bed w/'magic fingers', and a Jaccuzzi tub!  Ooh La La![/li]
[li]C.   Does it have clean linen, bottled water, a ceiling fan, and screens on the window?[/li]
[li]D.   The "Techno-Twins" Claude and Vetter are waiting for me down at the hostel.[/li]

Question 8 (7b).  (Lodging:  Location)

  • [li]A.   What do you mean I have to walk more than 10 feet to the d... beach?  Where's my pool boy?[/li]

[li]B.   I'm rolling down the road in style with Avis![/li]
[li]C.   Walking, Buses and Taxis allow more of a challenge.[/li]
[li]D.   Where do you rent those donkeys???[/li]

Question 13 (11b).  (Social Interaction)

  • [li]A.   Locals?  Give them a d... quarter, James, and have them wax the Rolls.[/li]

[li]D.   Oh Man!  Groovy, dude.  Quite a party!  How do we get out of this jail, dude?[/li]

Well, that is all I can think of for now, but I am sure I will come up with more!  Answer the question with the option that most describes your feelings and then PM them to me.

Loren  :crazytongue: :crazytongue:

Loren....

I'm lovin the Sunset at the Palms resort in Jamaica..... I'm very close to picking up thephone and calling aaa travel to get a quote.... I love how it looks like the jungle

Champagne,

Calm down.

When it come to reservations never make them 8 months out! :nono: What happens is that something better will come along. 6 months out max, 3-4 months if you just can't wait! But remember, no less than 1 month. Resorts will be happy to take your money now, but use this time to explore the possiblities. That will give you a better idea of cost between places.

Of course, since this is for a honeymoon it is likely that the father-in-law is going to shell out for it. But remember that his Visa Card is more dear to him than a daughter-in-law ... or even his own wife for that matter! :crazytongue: You don't want to send him into cardiac arrest UNTIL after you marry his kid!

I will look into various "pamper me rotten" all-inclusive resorts. And post them in another thread: "Holidays For Honeymooners!"

There are a lot of resources one can use to find out the "real" truth about a resort, besides their pretty website pictures..

Loren :crazytongue:

Loren....

Thanks for the tips... I'll kick back and see what you come up with... oh and i did call aaa travel.... they were pretty high versus what i have been looking at online... Any help from members here is greatly appreciated....

Oh and my "father-in-law" has passed about 15 years ago.... so fiance and i are paying for wedding & honeymoon....

Our budget for a honeymoon is around $3,000-$4,000 ... that is including flight, hotel. that's why it's so crucial to find good all-inclusive resort...... :sunny:

Dearest Champagne,

Do me a favor.

First, Answer  HONESTLY those questions for me.

Secondly, why do you want to do an all inclusive resort?  Do you think it is the cheapest way to go?  a good bargain?  afraid to step out? afraid of getting mugged? Never traveled?

That is why you need to do the survey for me.  I have done some preliminary "cost looks" at these resorts. They run from $2,400 to $3,400+ for 7 nights for 2 people.  That is A LOT OF MONEY!  It works out to $340-500.00 a night.     (and you won't have any money left for them donkey rides!)

If you have never seen one these places ... they are a HUGE hotels (500-600 rooms) right on the beach,  Just 300 yards beachfront with chainlink / barbed-wire fences running 60' out into the water on each side,  and flanked on the land side with 10' tall concrete block walls topped with broken glass or concertina wire!  The 'jungle' GARDEN is usually 1000 sq. feet inside the fence.   :crazytongue:  SERIOUS!  They remind me of prisons!

Might as well stay in a hotel in downtown SanFran or LA. because we haven't even looked at airfare yet.  (But by wheeling and dealing that is no problem usually.)

A good guideline for folks that AREN'T rich is about $100.00/night.  Plus add $50.00/day for food.  In total that runs about $1,200.   Let's toss in about $800 extra for airfare. (it won't be that much) That would leave you $2,000 to do that extra stuff!  Fun Stuff!  Neat Stuff!!  "Take a picture of that!" stuff!!!

I know I can find you a dream honeymoon in Jamaica that you will remember for a lifetime ... but it is more than likely It would not be at a goofy resort.

So, once again ... A,B,C, or D.  Seriously ... humor me ... I will keep looking at them,  but I think you would like what I can find for you.

Loren  :crazytongue:

(Ps:  for $4,000 I could send you both to Tirtaganga, Eastern Bali:  Including Airfare, 4 Days transit in Kuta Beach, then food, entertaiment, a large Bungalow on the side of a volcano overlooking the rice terraces that run clear down to the sea, staff that will climb the trees to pick you ripe tropical fruit, an ancient Rajah's Water palace with 7 pools and stone critters that squirt water, a temple, your own personal 'boy' ...  FOR 2 MONTHS!!!!

To answer the latest questions:
*out of the research i've been finding, they suggest that for honeymoons, you get the best for your buck if you go all-inclusive... unlimited drinks/food.
*i don't care for the 2 star hotels (at all)
*i like to feel like i'm in complete luxury when on vacation (especially since it's a honeymoon)
*i'd like for us to pick something we don't have here in cali
*we picked jamaica because earlier today when i googled to see popular honeymoon destinations, and the time of year we'll need to travel, it said the carribean

Whooooooooooooo, hope this has helped a little more in your helping (if that makes sense)... lol... loren once again, thanks for all you've done, are doing, and going to do....

Thanks :sunny:
