HAS ANYONE EVER WON FROM SheKnows?

 Has anyone ever won from SheKnows? I received an e-mail from them today telling me that I had
won a prize and that I needed to send them my SSN and a copy of my driver license so that they could send my
prize. I had to re-read it to find mention of my prize buried nearly halfway through-- Sothy's Hydrating products.
No value was given. Is this common practice for winning a prize? None of my other wins have ever asked for this info
(maybe they were not as valuable)? Does anyone know of this prize, and its' value? I really don't want to send out
this kind of info. Does this company have a good reputation?

:sunny: SheKnows was my first win. A book just showed up in the mail one day, but that was back at the beginning of June 2009. These are rather pricey products, $50 to $75 a bottle if I remember correctly. Still not worth the handing out of the SS# & Driver's license if you ask me, but SheKnows is perfectly within it's rights to ask. It's weird how they changed things, though. Doesn't seem too many people are happy with their new system.

I've won twice from them. In regard to prizes, I have no problem giving my social security number or driver's license. They need the social security number to report prizes to the IRS; driver's license, proof of who you are and where you live. The IRS may only mandate 1099's be filled out for prizes $600.00+, but a sponsor still has the right to report any prize under that if they want.

Yes, I won one of the "12 Days of Christmas", I think day 11: $175.00 worth of games. I received a phone call
on the Friday before Christmas informing me I had won and subsequently received by email, a form I needed to fill
out and send back (SS number included). The woman said they'd try to get it to me by Christmas, but alas, I just received it last week.
A pretty cool prize, I might add: Six different boxed games x 2. Enough birthday gifts for awhile.

My site is SheScribes (www.SheScribes.com). I just wanted to make sure that no one accidently confused my site with She Knows. I also do giveaways but I would NEVER EVER ask for a SS#. It's not my place. If a sponsor requires one then they would have to contact the winner directly.

The ONLY information I ask for when someone wins in a name and mailing address. I won't ask for a phone number unless the sponsor needs it for shipping (sometimes FedEx requires it). Once I know a sponsor has the necessary information I delete the information from my records just to be on the safe side.

Since the names are similar (She Scribes / She Knows) I just wanted to make sure that no one confused me with that site.

Thanks.

Have a wonderful day! :sunny:
