Collector Desperately Seeking Very Rare Starbucks Card...
Who's the collector? Depends on who wants to know. It's not me. We've communicated by email, but I've never met him in person.
How rare is the Starbucks card in question? As far as I know, there are only six of them in existence. They were given to the Grand Prize winner of the Starbucks New York Times Ultimate Coffeehouse Crossword Challenge, and the five First Prize winners of the contest. The card looks like this...
I don't know who owns these cards now, as the contest was over a year ago. I know the Grand Prize winner, Warren Beach of Seattle, is no longer in possession of his card. I haven't been in communication with the First Prize winners either.
How desperately is the collector seeking one of these cards? $4,000 desperately, that's how desperately. As I think of such an offer, I'm recalling two parables Jesus told about the kingdom of heaven, something so amazingly wonderful that you would consider it a small price to pay if you had to sell everything you owned to get it...
"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it." (Matthew 13:44-46, New International Version)
So if you have one of these cards, and you want $4,000 more than you want your card, contact me and I'll connect you to him.
