Have You Been Notified of a Win Via Phone Call?

How are your guys' experiences with sponsors contacting you by phone? Did the phone number come up unavailable, restricted or what the phone number available for you to call back? Did the sponsor leave a message if you didn't pick up? Did they call a second time to try to contact you again? What percent of wins do you get notified of by phone?

I have a really bad habbit of not carrying my phone around with me. I also don't answer when i'm sleeping. So i'm just wondering what i should look out for.

I have had a few notifications by phone, even on some very small wins, but not many. All were backed up by e-mails, although I know this isn't always the case. Every one I have had showed up on the caller ID as a number, there were no unavailables that I can remember.

I think we all may notice more phone notifications for awhile as there have been some major problems with the internet in several parts of the US recently.

It's very difficult to say what to look out for because it is very individual to the sweep you are entering. The only way to know for sure if to look at the rules. Some will notify by snail mail, others by e-mail, some by phone, some list winners only on their website (and you must contact them), and any combination of those options. With some sweeps they will only call once and then they move on to the next person. Those, thankfully are rare.

My best advice would be to just try not to worry about it too much. I drove myself crazy for awhile worrying about missing notifications! Just remember to check your e-mail carefully. More than once I ditched a winner notification, thinking it was just an entry confirmation!!

:sunny: I have only received phone calls for larger wins. Some come up with the company name and some show unavailable. There are a few sweeps that indicate in the rules that they will only call once to get a response, but those are few and far between. I certainly wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

It seems that notifying a winner by telephone isn't as common as it was years ago.

However, with a sponsor like Valpak, they will call on a specified day between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and make two attempts (per the rules). If they don't get an answer, they move on to the next person on the list.
