HGTV Dream Home Giveaway

I guess if I ever win, I can expect the mean, nasty, and judgemental comments too. I'll react the way that's normal for me not the way others expect me to. :headbang: I'd be annoyed and bothered with a woman like that going on and on and not getting out of my house. :cussing: :boxing: :fired: :hammer:

I'm completely with you dark. If you don't act the way people think you should act, be prepared to become a target. It's funny how people perceive things. When I watched it, I thought the woman looked in shocked. Sometimes it takes a while for something like that to sink in. Nobody knows her circumstances, maybe she was just told she has 6 months to live, or somebody was sick in her family. Maybe the rules for HGTV should read that the winner must "act" excited when told they win. You gotta love the comments of how she doesn't deserve it because she didn't act the way they would have. As if they deserved the win because they would have been bouncing off the walls! Ahhh...you gotta love it!

I don't think too many people would be able to convincingly reenact being surprised when they already were aware of winning prior to the publicity shoot. I was looking at some of the comments made last year about the 2007 winner, and they were the same judgemental and nasty comments as this year's were and probably every previous year.

Well to begin with if you post ANYTHING on YouTube you're going to get nasty comments. There are just too many immature people with an internet connection and nothing better to do and even more of the types who react to them. It perpetuates itsself endlessly and it doesn't take much to start the ball rolling. I was hoping those comments would be ignored but they're just too glaringly apparent I suppose. And it looks like even more were added. The comments about 'deserving to win' are ridiculous, ANYONE WHO ENTERED deserved to win. We all threw our names in the hat and regardless of whether you live in a shack or already own a mansion, you tried and if you won you deserve it.
As for the affy, they probably suckered her like they did me. "Fill out the paperwork, it's just part of being one of few finalists. The media RV outside your house is there just in case your name is drawn as the winner!" Of course if I'd thought about it (which I did at the last minute), I would have realized that those satellite remote RVs are very expensive to run and they wouldn't have a few of them just parked in front of people's houses all day. In any case she probably wasn't clueless that the home was going to be hers so why not play excited to appease the sponsors and maybe look a little grateful? I'm happy for her. Somebody had to win, may as well have been her. But it took a lot of effort for them to hand you the keys to a $2.5 million home, smile.

How did you get suckered? did you win a home before in the same way this lady did?
lol...sorry. guess I should have explained a little bit more. I was talking about my JImmy Kimmel Superbowl win. They told me there were 3 finalists and Jimmy would decide on air and that's why the satellite truck was there. In case I won.

You're probabl right dark. No matter how she would have acted, it would have been criticized.

She bounces off the wall then she must be on drugs, she acted like a moron, she was drunk.
She smiles a lot then she smiles too much, she has crooked teeth, her lips are too skinny.
She runs around screaming then she must be a wackjob.

Bottom line, she can act any way she pleases all the way to the bank!

Well, you hit the nail on the head. That about sums it up!!

I guess there's alot of people that need to feel good about themselves by critizing and putting down others!

Oh my gosh I love the Jeff Foxworthy redneck dream home.

You know ~ I would almost like to have a house like that one...talk about seperate spaces. Someone gets on your nerves just go off to your own trailer...kids backtalk ~ have a trailer with no tv, no videogames, no computer, telephone and locks on the outside  That would scare them straight!!!

I used to play Bingo and would always be suprised at how bored some people would act when they would win - when I'd win, I'd scare the crap out of everyone in the room!!! :crazytongue:

Anyway, I worked in a volunteer Bingo hall (tips only) and soon realized these people were just private, and they really were excited, they just didn't show it

I'm sure people were annoyed by how I reacted to winning, and judged me, but I always remember (as LDS pointed out)

People have a tendency to judge others based on their own personal beliefs and views.

and I refrain from petting the sweaty things

When I watched the video and saw the host walk in the house, I said she must have known. Then she had a house full of people.

I get silly when I win. I giggle a lot. I know, it's stupid, but it's how I react.

I think we all would be overwhelmed to win the dreamhome. We all dream it will happen, but won't know what to do if it does happen. Well, I'm pretty sure I would giggle!

I am happy for her. Jealous as anything, but still happy. It changes her life for the better. Maybe next year, it will be one of us! :headbang: If it is, I will beat up anyone on youtube picking on them! :headbang:

She was rather underwhelmed....

Me? I would likely crap myself on national tv
