How do trip or vacation Giveaways work?

It really depends on how the sweepstakes prize is listed and rules. Always read the rules. I just won my first trip yesterday and airfare is not included. Each sweepstakes varies.

It does vary for sure, reading the rules is important. In addition to winning you will receive a 1099-MISC and have to claim the prize value as income on your tax return. Read up for so you know what to expect.

It depends on the sweep.

Some are all inclusive, some are partially inclusive (place to stay, some meals, event or attraction, partial or no additional travel expenses or some variation upon that mix)...
 
:sunny: As the other members mentioned, you have to read the rules. Some are just airline tickets, some are just hotel stays, some that included air & hotel, and some that include everything including spending money. Pick the ones that are right for you. Try not to enter a trip that you can't accept as many do not pick an alternate if you turn it down and that means that someone who really wanted to win that trip lost out, too.
 
I just won my first trip yesterday as well... just 1 night hotel, 2 rounds of golf, pizza and $50 lodge GF, have to research the area this weekend and have to let them know by the 30th... they already said they will pick an alternate winner, so I wont feel so bad if I don't except...
