just got this message...

Congratulations! You have been selected to receive a prize by registering in the Rawlings Golden Anniversary / Champs Sports Sweepstakes, administered by ePrize.

You have won a Trip for two 2 to Vancouver, Canada to the EA Sports studios. Please see the Official Rules for further prize details and eligibility requirements. This prize has an approximate retail value of $3,500.

and I need some advice. they are saying that the prize is valued at $3500 but since airfare from the California bay area should not be all that much and the prize is airfare and lodging for 2 night does anyone have advise on how to reduce the taxes I will need to pay?

yes call around for like flights and accomidations and have it sent to you or download the same deal from any of major companies that sell trips (expidia,or any of them) and you can use that for your taxes

marklet652 - they always figure high on airfare to CYA, so work with them to get you a realistic ARV for your taxes.

If they won't? Then CYA as Lee as suggested - remember to document everything, with time stamps.

gl, and CONGRATS!!! :headbang:

AmyShulk... what do you mean time stamp? and how do I work with them... do I call them... or what.. boy do I feel stupid....

Times Stamps:
If from email, the time email was sent
If from printout, the time should be on the printout. IE typically puts this on the bottom of the page I think.

By the way, congrats, and enjoy.

I forgot I had to click NOTIFY to know when this thread was posted to again :nono: :crazytongue:

But, JZ answered you :headbang:

As far as working with them? You should have a cover sheet on the paperwork with a contact person & phone # to ask questions? I've never won a trip, so I am going by what others have posted.

GT (greensthings) has won many trips, perhaps she could better answer you? :)

We've won alot of trips. You just can't use any price from any flight, hotel, etc. Once you find out which flight you're booked on, the hotel you're staying in, etc., you then look up the pricing for that exact flight and seats and the hotel room rates for that exact hotel for those exact days. Same for anything else that is included in the trip. You must keep a dated printout of all documentation for proof of actual costs.

However, so far, knock on wood, all of our 1099's have had the ARV reduced down to the actual FMV of the trip.
