I don't answer my phone

So since I've gotten back into sweeping I've gotten a larger number of phone calls from numbers I do not recognize. I never answer numbers that are unknown or that I do not recognize. I've looked up a few of the number and some seem to be scammers but some people say they were told they got the call because they entered a sweestake. I guess my question here is am I hurting myself by not answering the phone? If I win something will they leave me a message and a contact phone number?

I've only received one win via phone. I didn't answer either but they did leave a message for me to call back.

There are a few that notify winners with a phone call. Most will leave a message but there are a few that require you to answer the phone. It will be in the rules if you are required to answer the phone. I usually answer the phone unless it is clearly a telemarketer from the ID that shows up on my caller ID. Answer the call and if it's not a winning notification, just hang up. It's not like telemarketers aren't use to getting hung up on.

I answer the phone and if it's a marketer I hang up and then add that number to the blocking app I have on my cell.

Some sweeps will allow 3 calls and if no one answers they will award the prize to someone else.I've never experienced this,only heard about it.I answer everything..especially calls from other states.So far all are recordings when I answer or just a telemarketer.but then I have them put me on their DO NOT CALL list to eliminate them from calling back.One never knows how that big win will notify you!!

Anytime I get a call, I tell them that I have to SEE IT IN WRITING !

Ellen Degeneres sweep was selling my ph number, i found out via a telemarketer when i asked. so don't be afraid to ask how they got your number.

I won a trip to Disney World and was notified by phone. The call ID came up "private caller". Thank God I answered it

some sweeps only call you like Valpak ones so I answer all calls

You aren't the only one who does NOT answer the phone. I don't either answer it either. We have a little caller id on the phone, it has about a line of who is calling. I don't answer if I don't know who it is or recognize the call. I've never got three calls same place either so I assume I've never won anything. That's just my method of things, not going to change it either so I totally hope they don't use a phone to notify ever with no info on caller id(small chance I win something big-very hard to comprehend with so many sweepers but all it takes is one entry)and miss it!I don't have an answering machine either that might be a good thing to have. Good luck!You could always google the phone number and maybe call back, I've checked out the number before...
