...and learn something!

If your heels are so dry they are cracked and bleeding they need lotion. Same thing for ashy feet. Apply liberally and often.

If your toenails have gunk in them they need cleaned out, possibly soaked. Same thing for dirty, muddy feet.

Corns, bunions, warts, etc. you may want to consider sneakers.

If you wear toenail polish and it is chipped or in the process of chipping off use polish remover and repolish them.

No matter how cute the sandals or flops, you shouldn't be wearing them if your feet look a wretched mess. Home pedis are fabulously cheap and so easy to do and maintain!

ewwwwww! Thanks for the nauseating image

I dont wear flip flops or open toe shoes. Im a sneakers kinda girl. But I have seen some with the just the nastiest feet.

So, what got ya started on this rant. Someone with nasty feet stick em in your face.

Dry cracking heels? Coconut oil works. Just pour some in a clean margarine tub and put in the fridge. It will set up and you can pop it out and rub it on your feet. Cools and mosturizes. Store in the fridge between uses. For stinky feet, the absolute best soap is Chandrika Ayurvedic Soap. Its a pure natural soap with oils of ginger, cinnamon, lime, orange and sandalwood

That stuff will actually mask my body odor (I smell like mouse pee) so I expect it would work on any kind of smelly feet. :sunny:

Hubby will do that right after coming home from work and taking off his boots and socks. Makes me gag.

I'm just amazed at the amount of people I see walking around in sandals and flops with unkempt feet! Women should know better. Men...well, I tend to overlook it since men have ugly feet anyway. A little lotion never hurt anyone, though. I'm not saying don't leave the house unless you give yourself a pedi first but do pay some attention to the condition of your feet.

We took the kids to Dairy Queen the other night after a game. There was a woman about my age standing in front of us with dirty feet and no shoes. Her toenail polish was chipped and you could see the gunk in her toenails. It wasn't as if she had accidently stepped in a mud puddle or something. It was as if she had left the house like that...completely oblivious to the fact that her feet looked like she had been walking barefoot through the streets kicking up dirt.

Jojoba oil works well also. And if you use it on a regular basis your feet will remain moisturized between showers/baths. I use it all over as an after-shower moisturizer.

I don't really care about stinky feet. Some people have them no matter what they do. I had a girlfriend in high school who had stinky feet no matter what she did. Hubby has them everyday since he's in boots all day and the boys have them from wearing shoes and socks all day. I can deal with stinky feet. I just don't get why people do not pay more attention to their feet. If you've been at the park all day playing with the kids I get that. If you've been gardening and need to pop into the store or whatever, I get that. Just don't set out to go out to dinner or shopping for hours if you've been running around barefoot all day and have dirty, unkempt feet.

:sunny: I don't mind that much about people and their feet, especially if they are just picking something up at the DQ. Although I myself take care of my feet. What I do mind is when I see a women dressed to the nines complete with mani/pedi and her children are wearing dirty clothes and looked like they haven't had a bath or a washcloth in a few days. That really yanks on my chain! :cussing:

You need to go shopping with my friend Rene. I've seen her jump all over somebody (who had an expensive weave and salon nails) for not caring for their child's hair properly. You can hear Rene in the next state when she gets started, too

Sadly, I had a friend like that. Except she wasn't dressed to the nines, more like a zero, but she was super lazy and her kids were always dirty. When she'd bring the kids over I'd try to wipe their face and hands and they'd bite me. They didn't like and/or wasn't used to being cleaned up. I ended up resenting her for the way she treated/neglected her kids and ended the friendship. She didn't care about that either.

The feet thing...I guess I'm just weird about feet. I don't actually like feet so I assume there lies the problem. For me, dirty feet are comparable to dirty faces and clothes in certain situations. Wouldn't you want to look your best when going out to dinner or if you're going to be out and about for long periods of time, say shopping or whatever? Not directed at you, Pam, just anyone in general. Albeit, DQ isn't really going out to dinner, but you get my drift.

Good for her!!!!

I hate that. :cussing: I see it all the time too. I don't understand it. If you have money to get your hair and nails done you have money to buy your children nice, clean clothes. Some people are just selfish. I will never understand a mother who puts herself in front of her children. Did you ever hear about the women who was getting her nails done and had her baby in a car seat next to her. Well, the woman doing her nails made a comment about how quiet the baby was and went to look. The baby was practically starved to death. That's why it was so quiet. She called the police and they arrested the mother. She said she couldn't afford to feed the baby.

I was one of those people who had no business wearing sandals...I have always had ugly feet and as Ive gotten older, they have gotten completely out of control with the dry cracking thing.....when I saw the commercial for those "Pedegg" thingys I thought to myself "okay, maybe Ill give that a try..." I bought one, used it and (excuse the mental image) got about a pound of dry skin scrubbed off those puppys....after doing that daily for about a week and lotioning up, my feet are actually SOFT and reasonably presentable....I mean, I have troll feet (my husband has said that its a good thing he isnt a "foot man" or he would never have married me) ----but for troll feet, they actually look much better---my apologies to everyone I have grossed out over the years.

I hate feet...they freak me out and I'm not kidding! ughhhhhhh!

I can't stand long dirty fingernails on kids either ~ especially little babies that you know aren't crawling around or anything. I know older kids will get dirt under their fingernails, but you can tell when a kid has been playing and when the parents don't care one way or the other. Definately a pet peeve of mine!

I love wearing sandals. But shouldn't for 3 reasons. 1. I'm a big girl, so it is probably going to damage my feet over time, plus the fact I seem to get hurt when wearing sandals. Also I do have dry cracked heels alot.
Found something that works for though. The pedi egg, you can get it at walgreens or whereever. Its awesome!!

Let me clarify, troisanges and tiff. It's OK to have ugly feet. One can't help if their feet aren't exactly attractive or even cute. Hell, almost all feet are ugly. Ain't that right, Ping! Hubby says I have Barney Rubble feet  If I could find my all-in-one disk, I'd post a pic of my feet. Anyone game? But feet do look better if they are moisturized and kept neat and clean no matter how ugly.

So, the ped egg thingy does work, huh? I wondered about that. I just use a regular pumice stone and jojoba oil or cream.

Just to add: I love baby feet and kid feet. I'm always playing with my youngest son's feet. I clip them once a week and lotion them every other night. He hates it LOL

Yea, it looks scary first. Looks like a cheese grater. LOL. But you just scrub your feet with it, and it takes off the dead skin. You still need to moisturize, cause they are still kind of dry. But its really easy to use.

I keep a cup with pennies in it and try to bribe my kids to rub my feet with lotion or brush my hair. Sometimes it works  Of course they have now moved on to wanting quarters (more than one) and dollars. If I give pennies I have to give most of them.

As for the kids thing, you know what drives me nuts about my own kids? They can be clean and hair brushed when we leave the house but, nooooo they are dirt magnets and look as though they never washed up their face or brushed their hair when we arrive wherever we are going. I get plenty of looks when they do that, when I notice it and I can get whatever it is off quickly, I will lick my finger and rub it off. The kids HATE that, I told them to make sure they are clean then!
