Interesting Answers From Sweeps Sponsoring Company

I asked a question to a site that has giveaways. The site sells a type of product and has lists of giveaways for some items. I emailed them and asked a question about entries. I asked of I entered too many times, more than allowed, what would be done? I asked if I would ultimately be disqualified from a chance at that item or if the extra entries would merely be removed. I got one answer around the holidays saying that the extra entries would be removed unless this became a habit, and then the person doing it would be banned. Well, a month or two later, another person from that site that also got a copy of that email decided she would answer, not being sure if anyone else that got a copy had answered it. She said something totally different. She said a person entering too many times on an item would be disqualified for any chance at that item. HA! Just goes to show, like I have thought and said before.....rules are sometimes made up as they go along, IMO.
This is NOT a smaller company either. It's a more famous one for giveaways.

 is it rules are made up as they go or the people answering emails/questions don't know their own rules?

Sounds to me like they both said sort of the same thing. It just depends on if you consider banned and DQ's as the same thing. Being banned from a certain item would be the same thing as being DQ'd from that item, but banned from entering any of their sweeps at all would be different than being DQ'd for a sweeps because you didn't enter according to the rules.

I believe the person that answered first was an owner. His answer seemed logical and fair. He even said that mistakes happen...and that occasionally entering more than allowed was okay. They would just delete the extra entry (entries). The second answer some time later was totally different. She said (paraphrasing) that of course they would have to disqualify all entries if the computer counted too many for that item from one person/email. I think they said totally different things....quite opposite. Anyway, I think they should get their act together. I cured my own problem and am much more careful about the number of times I enter.
