I only started using Sweepstakes Advantage in beginning of August & on August 27, I got a phone call that I won a trip for 2 to China!!!

I didn't even have a passport when they called me, lol. We flew out on 09/28/12 & got back 10/06/12. I was afraid to post about it beforehand as I didn't want to jinx myself (lol, up until we actually boarded the plan, I was half-convinced I was going to be told that there was a mistake). I never would have found this & won this trip without this website & I've never won anything really big before in my life.

Thanks so much for having this site, you really never know ;)

Oh I remember this one - it looked amazing, very short notice too right? Glad you had a great time and congrats!!

yes, very short notice. they called me on 08/27/12 & I need to do a crazy passport expedite as they needed the passport info by 09/13/12 to book the trip. they actually told me I might have to forfeit, if I couldn't get it in time, but luckily China requires a Visa so I was able to get in just under the wire with 2 days to spare.

lol, taught to actually read the fine print, but I'm ready if I win another trip :sunny:

:sunny: Wowza!! What a great trip! That trip had a value of over $17,000! How exciting to win such a great trip so early in your sweeping. Congratulations!

NICE WIN!!!!!!! I would love to hear more about the trip!!!!

I know with passports there are offices you can go into and get your passport same day. In NY they just require your ID and a confirmation of your booked trip. They will issue same day (sometimes you have to wait until next day but not usually). They have offices in all major cities and are part of the government.

I hope by posting this I jixed everyone into winning some big international trips!

Wow, what a great win, congratulations! I hate to be a Debbie Downer, hopefully they gave you money for the taxes, if not be prepared to pay taxes on the trip, it wins count as income. I'm just passing on information I wasn't aware of when I won my first trip!

yeah, that is what I wound having to do, but they will only take you if you are leaving with 2 weeks or require a visa within a month. I only qualified as China requires a visa, otherwise they would have refused because while I needed the passport to book the tickets by Sept 13, we didn't actually fly until Sept 28th so I would have missed the 2 week window.

The trip itself was phenomenal - we hit the Great Wall of China which we actually tobogganed down from, Tiananmen Sq, the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, the Terracotta Warriors, the Western Lake, a tea plantation, a gorgeous canal town & the Shanghai museum & acrobats among the highlights. The only thing I would have changed is that Oct 1 - 7, which is when we toured the majority of the sights also happened to the national holiday week, so everything was mobbed with Chinese tourists, but hey it was free, so no real complaints on my end as I never would contemplated or been able to afford traveling there on my own, lol.

it was really was a trip of a lifetime ;)

Nope the taxes are on me, but it was a trip for two people, so I took my sister as she was the only person who was able to get the time from her job & had a passport & she's paying for her portion of the taxes, so I only need to cover half. Offhand though, how much do they hit for you for taxes on the trip, I've been trying to figure out the percentage so I can budget ahead on my portion?

Thanks so much.
