Kids going back to school

It seems to mean that kids are going back to school earlier and earlier now! Our kids go back on August 2nd. When do you guys throw the kids on the bus again???
 
here in texas where I am they have some school as year round and some still have the summer vacation 3 month period.
 
mine start aug 25 or 26 not sure. but then they didnt get out until june 1st. Im sooo looking forward to it. They wont be on the bus though. since we live less than a mile from school I have to pay for them to ride the bus. 20.00 a month per kid. 3X20= 60.00 a month. no way am I paying that. I quess they think they can walk to school. I dont think so. I would never, ever let my kids walk to school. way to many weirdos running around.
 
My kids start back on August 13. Whew, that's very early. 3mn let me get this straight. You live a mile from your kids school; which means that you MUST be paying taxes for that school district. Yet you have to pay for your kids to ride the bus. Are those people on crack or what. I thought that was free.
 
I home school my daughter so we can start when we want to. Usually we start after Labor Day.

I dont understand the reasoning. They cant say well, its out of our way, or if not for your kids we wouldnt have to go there. The school here is divided into to two seperate school's . 3rd and 4th grade go to a different school, miles away, and have to be bused. so, they would have to come out here anyway. and if your kid is in 3rd or 4th you dont have to pay. It is the craziest thing I have ever seen. several parents have tried to change it by saying its not safe for the kids to walk to school because of a lack of sidewalks in several places. Thats not a good enough reason though. Not to mention when winter comes around I dont want my kid walking in below zero temps. so, I will take them and pick them up.

wow! You are alot braver than I am. I could never homeschool. dont have the Patience's for it.

why when someone typs school it comes out schotheothersite? I have seen that three or four times in the last couple of days. I had to edit my post twice to fix it.
 
That is one good thing that our school system does do!! Everyone gets bus transportation for anyone! Even if they live next to the school, the district will provide safe transportation to the school. Which it would probably be quicker to walk to the school for some!

I would be having a FIT if our school system did that! It is ridiculous!!!
 
my kids go back at the end of aug but then so do I back to work that is so its a mixed blessing and curse lol

out here all kids who live 1/4 mile or more away from the school can ride the bus but then thats everybody cause the school is in the country and just farm fields around the buildings.

The same distance was applied to the school I went to as a child but it was in a town and severial kids just walked. There was even a gov low income houseing project within the 1/4 mile from the elementry school and a teacher was nice enough to set up a time to walk all the kids across the 1 street and the parking lot ( thats how close it was )

here bussing is free if there is not a stop within 1/4 mile of your house if there is a stop that close then thats your stop. I lucked out and my neighbors kids were moving into the high school or else I would have to walk/drive my kids almost a 1/4 mile thru the woods or down the highway. I was going to give them a piece of my mind if they did not give me a stop since I had 2 infants at the time my oldest was going to K.

3mnkids sorry your school is (insert cuss words here) hope they wise up and get you guys either free bussing or at least a crossing person to walk them lil ones to the school safely
 
So I decided to put kailey in a private school for VPK its 3 hours a day. Free, from 8 to 11. All I have to pay for is uniforms which inst bad. :)
