Hello,
I just recieved a email stating that I won first prize of a Laquinta Simons Bed giveaway. They sent the affidavit and said I had 7 days to email it to them. When I try to email them back it says postmaster delivery failed???
I also called the number listed on the email. No response yet?

Has anyone else had this trouble?

:sunny: I really don't think this is a scam. LaQuinta is not out to scam anyone. I have received prizes from them. Don't know why the email wouldn't work. I would try the phone number again on Monday. Here is some contact information that I found:
LQ Management LLC
909 Hidden Ridge, Ste. 600
Irving, TX 75038
TX Tel. 214-492-6600
Fax 214-492-6616

Please keep us updated.

a lot of winning notifications are sent from "no reply" (ie automated) email boxes. Noone reads emails sent back so often they have it setup to bounce back to you so you don't wonder why there wasn't a response. HOpefully you hear back from the phone call you made.

With all the scam emails and phone calls I have gotten, none have ever sent out affidavits. As long as the company's information checks out on the affidavit, fill it out and send it back in. :)

Thanks for all your responses. The problem is they say to email back the affidavit, which is hard when the email won't go through. I will call them again tomorrow. This it the first big prize I have won, just trying to make sure I do everything right. Would I estimate that I will pay tax of their estimated value of $1299? And is the tax usually around 45%?
Thanks again. :)

Taxes are determined by whatever tax bracket you fall in. First, you have to document the fair market value (FMV) of the prize. The IRS requires that you report the FMV not the approximate retail value (ARV). The FMV would be the prize's true value. ARV's are approximations.
