Legal Advice / Question

If anyone has a little time and they know law concerning land and land titles I would appreciate some help. If you could PM me that would be great.

It's a little complicated and it has to do with someone saying they own land but don't have a title. Any legal help would be great. I can go into more detail about the situation.

You have to talk to a lawyer. Consultations are usually free.

I don't see how they can argue that they own the land without a title unless someone got the title transferred unlawfully.

The town hall has the records. You may want to go down there and look through them first and then consult a lawyer.

That's why I was asking for legal advice :) The records are not at the court house. It's really complicated. And a nightmare

There is no town hall. I will talk to a lawyer but thought I would see if I could ask someone with law experience and see what they thought. I didn't want to go into detail because it's too complicated.

You would have to know what state and local laws are to address the situation.

Make sure you go to a real estate lawyer.

Since you don't have a town hall, find out where the county office is for building and zoning. They keeps records on properties.

Thanks for trying to help. All I can say is Louisiana is a country all it's own. There were a lot of land deals that were not recorded anywhere. It is complicated.

Still, there has to be a department for building and zoning. People can't just can't buy property and build without permits and such.

In a search, put in:

"county name" Department of Building and Zoning

and

"county name" Department of Building and Codes

Every county has one, even Louisiana.

Also:

"county name" Department of Planning, Zoning, and Codes

This is Louisiana. People just put a home where they wanted. I appreciate the help and I will eventually hire a lawyer if I am forced to but I am talking to wolfie and I'll see what she advises. She knows I will need to hire someone if I have to.
