MMORPG (Probably Off-topic)

I've heard of people earning real-world money from playing massively multiplayer online role-playing games like World of Warcraft and League of Legends. Could any gamers here clue me into how this is done? Obviously, I'm not looking to get rich off of this. But if I could make a few bucks just from playing a game, that would be great!

Both are very hard to do.

Yes, you can 'win' money in League of Legends -- but they've gotten it to the point where it's like playing sports.
There are probably 2+ MILLION (real) people playing league of legends. (I think they boast some 50-60 million registrations). Of those -- there are maybe 100 that get any significant prize value.

In league of legends -- you literally have to play about 200 hours of game time (5 weeks, 8 hours/day) -- to 'level up' your character. At that point -- then you have to play another 200-300 hours just to get it into the top ranking tier. IF you get in the top ranked tier -- then you get a chance to compete "professionaly".

So -- to have a chance at winning, you'd probably need to play 500-1000 hours of computer games.
