I don't smoke. I can, but I don't, so should I go buy a pack, have it handy in case I win? Drives me nuts that I don't enter these because I DO NOT SMOKE! It's a bad habit that will kill you (mostly not you, the ones you love), and I just want to win.

I understand how you feel because I don't enter the ones I'm not eligible for either. With that being said it is a pet peeve of mine that people who do not smoke enter these. I smoke and never won the last camel sweepstakes one nor have I won the present one and no luck either so far on the Marlboro sweepstakes and that's the brand I smoke. I even called Marlboro and the guy I talked to assured me they had a way to weed non-smokers out but I find it hard to believe. This is not sour grapes on my part because I have not won but people do not enter if you aren't eligible.

Non smoker here and a special occasion alcohol drinker.

But I still sign up and enter. All of the beer and cig contests. I win. :headbang:

Also I go to the NASCAR and NHRA races often so I sign up for tobacco and alcohol whatever to get the free t shirt or whatever is free that day. :headbang:

What you decide to do is your decision, but SA does not encourage nor condone its members to knowingly break the rules.

Because of the war on tobacco, to protect the children, you have to swear to be a user to enter. Not just mark a checkbox, you have to give them your SSN.

With the advent of OBAMACARE, and health records {most likely} going online, it *might* pose a problem in the future if you tell your insurance company you don't, then basically swear out an affidavit that you do to enter.

From the comments, barry908 noted:

As a former AVP of a insurance company I have seen where upon receipt of a large claim (ex. lung cancer) investigation finds applicant made misrepresentations. Perhaps a google search would find a winners list in this contest?? Not sure it makes sense to pay for insurance, only to undermine a possible claim in the future buy entering a tobacco company sweepstake hoping for a small win.

AND:

The party offering a sweepstakes may have to file a winners list in each state they offer a contest/prize/sweepstake in. This documentation my vary by state but could include proof of payout in the form of list of winners. One may want to research the terms - Rescind and Policy Rescission prior to entering a tobacco contest.

Great point Amy.

I am an ex-smoker and chose not to enter the"smoker" contest.
My reason is karma. I feel I do much better being honest in all things - just my personal choice - it works for me.

That being said I hate the 29 years or young contests. They really bum me out!

TY for the reminder z - I need to start looking at eligibility BEFORE sponsor/prizes, lol!!! :crazytongue:

I'm just glad my short-term memory loss is good for something, since {unless I see a winner post they won} I soon forget allllllllll about them!!!

Thank you Amy for your response. Let me clarify one thing......I did not call Marlboro sweepstakes to ask that specific question, I was having trouble entering the sweepstakes but while I was talking to the guy did ask it. He didn't give me the way they supposedly weed out and I know non-smokers win so guess it's not foolproof. Still, I wouldn't post on here as a non-smoker that I win and brag about it.

My son pointed that out too beat1 - posting you break the rules *might* cause you problems in the future.

I've seen people get DQ'd because more than 1 person entered from the same home address, even though the rules didn't stipulate it was perhh, so I am VERY careful what I enter!

And TY for clarifying - IMO, those who would whine to a sponsor about other sweepers are just as bad as those who gloat about outwitting them!

It's the sponsors/JA's responsibilty to police their promo - SA can only encourage that sweepers at least read the listing, if not the rules, and comply with the limitations.

I am a smoker and enter however I no longer have children who are in diapers and don't enter those I guess it's all a question of ethics

I'll only enter the ones geared at {but NOT limited to} certain groups to help a fellow sweeper get another entry, but I always hope I will NOT win!!! :crazytongue:

I actually did win a nice prize doing that, and the poor woman was notified that she won - I tried to get it transferred to her, since it was her dream prize, but no dice - they did give her a nice consolation prize though! :headbang:
