For those of you who have started your own business.........

......How did you decide what business to go into?
......Are you full-time or part-time?
......What steps did you take to get started?
......Are you successful?

I'm thinking hard on getting something going and am curious on a few things listed above.... Any answers are appreciated. Thank you in advace.

I don't have any answers for you but I'm sure someone might be able to help out. Good luck whatever you decide.
 
I would start on what your skills and interests are in and look into doing something that would involve same.

For me, if I were to start a business, it would be either in catering or crafting. I've been asked on occasions if I would be interested in doing catering after I set up a function for school and buffets for baptisms, birthdays, etc.

I used to work for a caterer. She did mainly weddings. It's a lot of work but if you like that sort of thing you should think about it.
 
We have two separate home business.

My Husband's:

My dh is a building consultant; permit runner; draftman . . . . .

Wanted to retire, but could not make it on retirement alone

Both depending on number of clients. Kind of nice because when we are slow, we can travel and have fun.

My husband has been preparing his entire career; learning and becoming certified.

......Are you successful?
Paul is very successful and very busy at the moment.

Mine:
I have a website business;

I did not decide - started learning so I could do my son Moses' site; took off from there.

Part time

......What steps did you take to get started?
Started taking web design classes; then put up a website (www.mosessmith.com)

......Are you successful?
Moderately; known for good work but not making that much $$$$
