hartno1 - I sent you a pm to let you know that I moved your post here from the Winners' Circle, which is only for posting wins. Admin prefers only winning posts go in the Sweepstakes Winners Circle forum, since they link off the home page, thanks!

I guess they found a way around sweepers by requiring daily participation - so only their "true" fans will have a shot.

I sure hope this doesn't bocome a trend :nono:

I received the same email and i don't have a facebook account, i enter through the alternate entry, so i didn't win either, oh well lots more out there to be won, Good Luck to all of us :)

hartno1,
This is how I would reply to their email. Remind them that's it's a violation of rule#4 of Facebooks Terms of Service to require you to post their sweep on your wall in order to enter!!

I'm getting tired of sponsors that totally ignore Facebook's Terms of Service regarding sweeps. :nono: According to Facebooks policy the ONLY Facebook feature a sponsor can use to allow entry into any sweep is "like" the sponsors page.

Perhaps send them the link to the Facebook policy regarding the rules sponsors are supposed to follow in order to use Facebook for sweeps.....

Tep I got the same one this morning they want to know your usernames so they can check your page for their post. I told them no way.

Thanks goodguy...I also got the same email and I responded with the info you provided about Facebook's policy. Still awaiting a response!

Just got the response...

"You can do this through a third part application. Not directly, this is why Wildfire app was used. I hope that you have a great day."

Sooooooooo, am I reading this rule wrong?
"You must not use Facebook features or functionality, such as the Like button, as a voting mechanism for a promotion."
I dunno how many bazillion times I have voted for someone's picture via the "Like" button in a contest! Are those pages not supposed to be doing it that way?? WOWZA.

This was the craziest contest I think I have ever seen. Not to mention, their emails/rules are just not clean, hard to understand and oddly written, imho.

Oh well, on to the next WIN!

I have seen plenty of sweeps where they don't follow facebooks Terms of Service. For example, all those sweeps and giveaways that say "like our post to enter" are breaking the rules. They can only require you to "like" their page before you can access their sweep app. so you can submit your entry. They get away with breaking the rules because facebook is basically not policed and facebook doesn't have a "contact us" link so sponsors know they can get away with it. I sometimes find it very annoying when I see the rules blatantly ignored by some sponsors.

They also cannot use facebook to notify winners through private message or by only posting their name on their wall. They can post the winners names, so everone knows who won, but they can't just post their name saying "contact us a our email address to claim your prize".

Rule#6 "You must not notify winners through Facebook, such as through Facebook messages, chat, or posts on profiles (timelines) or Pages."

So, if you're entering something and it's not asking for your email address you know they're not following the Terms of Service.
