Question about IW sweeps

Hi I am new to sweeping and I'll admit, I still am very nervous about scams and spammers and identity theft. I usually enter the sweeps from the more "well known" companies because I feel more comfortable doing that. I started in October and since then I have won a $20 gift card but that's it. People always talk about the instant win sweeps but I havent had luck with those either. I do avoid the gambling sites and online game sites that seem to make up a very large portion of the instant wins, for example....I see a lot of games on like worldwinner or spin to win type games. Are those the games everyone seems to be getting their IW on? Do you get a lot of spam from those sites, or how do they work? Just curious....I appreciate your opinions and insight!

I tend to be quite conservative with which ones I enter too. Of the 200+ currently listed under "Instant Win" I'm entering 45 of them daily (that count usually lives around 80-100, but a lot of stuff expired 12/31) and I still log quite a few wins from them.

Lots of prizes per day give better odds, entering at times when normal people aren't up and around give better odds (the upside of insomnia, I win a lot of stuff at 3am when I can't sleep), and just plain luck and good timing helps too.

If you have a bad feeling about a site, don't play that site. Check the forums for the sweeps people post wins from and if you start seeing a lot of wins coming in from one your not playing, try asking about it specifically.

My rule of thumb on IW's? The same for any other sweeps - if i'd like to win the prizes, I enter.

Lots of them don't offer prizes I'd like, or they do offer a few, but the GP is a trip {I don't travel} I skip it. The longer you do this, the more you'll winnow out the wheat from the chaff!

Lately, I've been concentrating a lot more on the IW's. I'm often up really late, so the odds are supposedly better. Is this too simple, or is it true that if there was only ONE IW a day for any sweep, and a person posted that they won @ 2:00 P.M., then there would be no point in entering that sweep for the rest of that afternoon or evening?? And if there was ONE every HOUR, and people posted they won at 3:05P.M., we should wait till 4:00 to enter again?? Now to convince everyone that we'd all be helping each other out by doing this, is another story! J.

Good point about knowing if a daily or hourly prize has already been won so you won't waste your time.

It is one approach, and it makes sense, but it wouldn't work for me. While some people may find it helpful, it could be easier just to click and enter at the most convenient time for you, because many instant wins also have a grand prize, and logging in to the instant win is also the means of entry for the GP. So, you would need to keep track of which listings are just IWs vs which are IW with GP, then keep track if someone posted a win for the day or hour...and that information would be incomplete. [It would only include sweepers from SA who post their wins (either in comments or in the forum); it would not include sweepers from other sites or no sites. It would not include sweepers from SA who post wins only after they receive them, which could be 6-8 weeks after the sweeps ends.] I think it would be easier just to play the instant, even if you get a "Sorry, try again" instead of checking for all that info which would be incomplete anyway.

Thank you for sharing your idea. If it works for you and others, then try it and GL! We are all different and find the style that works for us.

It is good to be cautious, especially in the beginning. As the people who posted before me mentioned, as you become more familiar with sweeping you will sort things out in the way that is most comfortable for you for all sweeps, including IWs. I haven't entered the kind of IWs you are asking about, but in general, I end up doing what others have said --- entering if I like the prize, if there are lots of prizes (you have a better odds), and if there are lots of wins posted.

GL!
