Requiring social media follows for sweeps?

I know that awhile back FB had changed the rules so that companies could not require you like a page in order to enter a sweepstakes and it seems like a lot of companies are following the rules.

I've noticed recently that many sweepstakes (especially blog ones) no longer require you to follow their social media accounts instead they will give you an entry just for visiting their instagram, twitter, pinterest account etc...I'm just wondering why this is b/c I don't think the other social media have changed their rules like facebook has.

lk107 - The FB rule change [yes to FB membership, but no to having to LIKE a particular page} may have indicated to sponsors that new rules/regs *might* be coming & would affect all of social media?
