SA's WOT rating.

I have a Web of Trust plugin on my Firefox. It allows you to rate sites for things like trustworthiness, reliability, privacy and child safety, etc. and also shows you others' ratings for sites you visit. Whenever a site is deemed dangerous by Web of Trust users and I surf to it a black screen comes up saying "Web of Trust deems this site dangerous" and I have the option to go ahead to the site anyway, leave the site or add it to my allowed sites. I've never had a problem with SA and now suddenly it is showing as a dangerous site. I disagree with this rating obviously. I personally have rated SA with high marks for most categories.

I was wondering if anyone else uses Web of Trust and if you have rated SA and commented on the "dangerous" rating. My experiences with SA have been great and now I look back on all the sites I instantly blacklisted because of a negative Web of Trust rating with some trepidation. Maybe I should have made the judgement myself instead of letting other WoT users decide for me. The only way to change SA's WoT rating is to get lots of people to rate it with positive ratings. I think a lot of people will miss out on this great site if it's WoT rating is not challenged.
 
I dont use it. Honestly I had never heard of it :laughing: I just checked the FF site and here is just one of the comments about this add on. there were others basically saying the same thing.

People are rating sites in this plug in not according to if it's dangerous or not but if it's a good website or not sorry - that's not what this is about a website which has a poor designing or lack of contents doesn't mean it can hurt your computer

I wouldn't trust this thing at all. some sweepers are really loyal to the site they visit and are not above knocking another. It seems to me that if some people dont like a particular thing about a site.. whether it be political, religious.. etc. they will grade it low.
 
I actually have WOT on my firefox and it was fine on here up until a couple of days ago. I white listed SA because I know this place is fine. I don't know what happened. It went red, and now it has went to yellow. I am not a bit afraid to come to SA...I think someone got mad about something and blackballed us to be truthful!!

I am sure you are right. Maybe it's because of all the advancements here. Someone who cannot do what Admin has is threatened and legitimately concerned about his livelihood because, frankly, he cannot compete anymore! :whistle:

Most of the time, those things are just popularity contests.

I wouldn't go by some childish thing where people can vote nor even read reviews were the general public is the star rating.
