sweeps category question

Hi all. Sounds like people are winning some cool stuff lately-congrats. Two website questions, please:

1) when I look at the page that says browse all sweeps, (current example is instant category) it shows in parentheses 248, which I assume means there are 248 that can be entered. When I then click on this instant win link, the listing of the individual sweeps only lists 113. Where are the others?

2) on the pages that list the individual sweeps like this:

Saturday, January 7 2012(79)
Daily Sweepstakes (6) - One Entry Sweepstakes (7) - Unlimited Entry Sweepstakes (1) - UK Competitions (2) - Canada Sweepstakes (3) - DVD Giveaway (12) - CD Giveaway (1) - Blog Giveaway (20) - Book Giveaway (10) - Twitter Contest (1) - Facebook Contest (8) - Coupons (8)

Although there is a specific listing for Facebook contests, when I select daily or one entry contests from the listing above, I get quite a few contests that require "liking" something on Facebook. Why is this, and is there a way to truly avoid Facebook contests without having to wade through them in other categories?

Thank you!

Hi Bonniesawinner,

Good questions.

1) If you bring up all the IWs, then look at the top left of page 1, you will see "Search & Win (135)." The IW category includes search and win (such as Blingo, for example). If you add the 113 IWs + 135 Search & Wins, you will get 248 total. (You can click on "Search & Win" to bring up those 135 listings, 7 pages.)

I checked several other categories and the count for those was correct, so it is just different for the IWs.

2) It is my understanding that the editors do try to list Facebook separately. If "liking" is optional and there is an alternate means of entry, then sometimes the sweep is listed in a regular category. Instant Wins are a special case. IWs which require Facebook are still listed as IWs, because that is the more popular category. Most of these now have (Facebook) in the title, in parentheses.

Are you finding a lot of Facebook only sweeps in other categories (not counting IWs)? Do you have some examples? There may be other reasons for the way they are listed.
