I've come across a few sweepstakes that require Canadian's to either enter or receive a prize to correctly solve a mathematical skill testing problem. I don't get it. Why do Canadians have to know math?

That's an interesting question, and the answer is also interesting. I did a Google search for "sweepstakes Canada skill solving" and found the explanation on several sites.

Basically, it is required by Canadian law.
