They grow up so fast

:sunny: Chatted with my oldest grandson last night. He was in Lansing getting ready to be processed into the Army. Gosh, where did the time go? You think your kids grow up fast, it seems your grandkids grow up even faster. He has always been such a good kid. He is a junior in high school and will be going into ROTC this summer. He wanted to be a MP, but was told that those spots rarely come up. But lo and behold when they did his input, the MP position came up. Needless to say he was thrilled. I was really disappointed to hear that he will be leaving for Ft Leonard in Missouri right after school gets out in June, a week before I get there. I would change my reservations but my family and friends have already made plans for reunions that won't work out if I go earlier. I raised him from the time he was born until he was 10, so I always look forward to seeing him each summer. I guess I will just have to look forward to next year when I go to his high school graduation.

Thanks for such a great story Pam :) I don't have any grandkids but I have nieces and nephews and they are growing up right before my eyes. My nephew is doing the same thing as your grandson. He is also a Jr. in high school but has signed up in the Army and as soon as he graduates next year he's off to basic. I am so proud of him but I will miss that little brat

You are so right, fast doesn't even begin to describe it. It is a joy and a sadness to see them grow. Part of you will always long for the little baby to hold in your arms and the other part of you bursts with pride at the man or woman they have become.

Please tell your grandson, "thank you" from me for being willing to do what he is for the benefit of all of us. And thanks to all the rest of you who have served or have relatives who have.

Amen.

Fort Lost in the Woods in Misery! I've been there. He will like MP school. Make sure and ask him how his group's domestic violence hostage training goes, those scenarios can be gut wrenching. Everybody gets really involved. I used to love watching that stuff.

Re: They grow up so fast UPDATE

:sunny: Talked to my grandson last nite. They were throwing a party for him tonite. Tomorrow is the last day of school but he will be leaving 2 hours early to head off to Camp Leonard Wood. He already sounds older. We are all so proud of him. He says he will be done sometime in August and is hoping to fly out here to stay for a week with us before starting his senior year in high school. So maybe I will get to see him this summer. I will be keeping my fingers crossed as I sure do love that boy and would love to have him here to spoil for a week.
