Its been 5 1/2 weeks since we did our taxes. They did direct deposit so it would be faster.

Well I checked the irs website and it keeps saying it will be mailed out, etc etc. WEll today it said It was mailed out yesterday.
Why does it say mailed? It should be direct deposit. I looked in our account. its not in there.

And then there was a thing on it, that said that they took money out for Back child support, federal something, something else.

Well first off, we don't have any other children. And the only debt we have is some doctor bills. Unless they are thinking about medicaid?
Ughhh I don't know. I just want our money.

Tiff,
It very much sounds to me like your refund has been mixed up with another someone else's. It's been 5 1/2 weeks and it's says "mailed" instead of direct deposited. Also the back support and other misc. money deducted when none is due does not sound right. I checked out the IRS website and if I were you I'd call them to find out what is going on and why you are showing money not owed being taken out of your refund.

Tiff ~

I checked mine for you and here is what it said...

Your tax refund was direct deposited on March 14, 2008. If your refund has not been credited to your account, check with your bank to find out if it has been received. For information about how to file a claim because you have not received your refund, please continue.

We filed the week before and had it direct deposited. Double check that you put in all the info right and if you did call Monday morning because something isn't right!! This is our Federal...our state took about a week longer to get!

wow that is too wierd. My dads accountant did our taxes. We called them friday and they said they def direct deposited.

I dont understand how it could be wrong. I put in the right ss number, the right amount. And married jointly filed.

this is what it says::

Your tax refund was mailed on March 28, 2008. If you do not receive the refund by April 25, 2008, please contact us again. We are unable to take any action until then.

Please read the following information related to your tax situation:
Tax Topic 203 - Failure to Pay Child Support, Federal Non-Tax and State Income Tax Obligations
Please Note:
Your refund may be reduced to pay a past due obligation such as child support, another federal agency debt, or state income tax. If this applies to you, the Financial Management Service, who issues IRS refunds, will send you a notice informing you of any offset they have made. The details of the debt are not provided to the IRS. Please do not call us to inquire about the details because we will not be able to answer your questions. Instead, direct any questions you have about the offset or debt to the agency identified on the notice.

Wow ~ that is a long time to let something mailed get there! I would be calling the person that did my taxes then! Something just isn't right there!! A few years ago we were doing direct deposit and our tax guy messed up and checked mail... so it took longer, so I can almost understand that one, but I don't understand the one about the child support...I wouldn't be waiting to long ~ the longer you wait the longer it will take to get it straightened up after you finally get the check in. I would put him on it Monday!!

I read this on yahoo

?That's a boiler plate warning that everyone sees. And no, your refund cannot be offset for a credit card debt.

Although the IRS can't tell you anything about the particulars of an offset you can get that from the FMS autoresponder at 1-800-304-3107.?

I called that number, and they told me we have no debts from our ss number. So hmm I guess that is good.

Please accept this as constructive advice to everyone on SA.

All income, which includes all tips and wins are reportable to the IRS! Failure to knowingly report all income on your taxes is tax evasion and a crime punishable by years in prison as well as huge fines.

Posting on a forum board that you only report wins for which you receive a 1099 or that you are not reporting all of your income is not a good thing to do. .

Any post with admissions to the above will be edited or deleted.

SA advises everyone to seek the advice of a competent tax professional.

My personal opinion is that paying someone who knowingly lets you cheat on your taxes is not a good move. You pay them to keep you out of trouble.

Re: ughhh I just want my freakin money!!!!!!!! update!!

Just wanted to let yall know, We got our refund check today. ANd it was the amount they told us. So I don't really know what that stuff was about it on the website. I talked to the accountant and they werent sure either.

It was really funny, I was waiting around all day for the mailman, and then here he comes, this really big guy. I said, "I've been waiting for you all day!!!".
He looked at me wierd, and said, "Why have you been waiting for the mailman all day, and then he goes "Ohhhhhh I know". I said is it in there. He said yep, Do I get 10%.
