Virus attack

Hi all,
last night while entering daily sweepstakes on SA my computer was attacked by the virus - WIN HDD. :cry: My husband is an IT professional and started working on it right away. Luckily he was able to get rid of it and saved my computer! Did it happen to any of you? I don't remenber exactly which sweep it came from, because I got way too nervous when weird windows statred poping out and my computer got all strange, I closed all the windows and just cannot recall which sweepstakes I was entering and the time. My antivirus didn't catch it, which is strange.

It's a jungle out there- we all need to be aware and keep up our antivirus programs!

I was hit by a virus this morning on Woman's World and another member was as well. Please see our posts in general sweepstakes talk. Was hit by one last December on Woman's World as well. Think the hackers have found a vulnerability in their website. I am not entering their sweeps anymore. :wave:
 
The one I got was not from their website, I always enter these in the morning and my computer was infected in the evening when I was entering other daily sweepstakes.
I read your post and skipped WW sweeps for today. Thanks or the warning! :wave:
 
I use Avast anti virus and never really have to worry about this. Avast is free. You should also have all the latest Microsoft Updates. New MS security updates come out almost every week.
 
Yep, I was hit last night too :cussing: WIN HDD! I was able to discern the popups were bogus; and shut down right away and used system restore. I wish I knew where they came from! Sometimes they aren't from recent activity, just embedded to attack at a specific time.
 
luckily, I guess, I wasn't home last night to be doing sweeps. I have gotten other viruses many times though. These people really must be bored in life to do this. I just don't get the point of it, STUPID! You would think that they would have better things to do with their time.
