Warning: Facebook Account Blocked for 30 Days For Entering Sweeps

To all,

While I know this may be in the winners circle, but I was hoping more people would see this, this way. I have been sweeping here for years and just finally started getting on board with Facebook and entering their sweeps through the category here. Today, I got a Facebook notification that my account was going to be limited for 7 days for "liking too many pages", which is a big part of entering Facebook sweeps and Blog sweeps. About ten minutes later, I received a pop-up on Facebook saying that my ACCOUNT WOULD BE LIMITED FOR 30 DAYS for liking too many pages and that there was NO WAY TO APPEAL this. Just now, I received another message that the next time this happened, my account would be permanently deactivated without warning. They also said in the message that ALL THE LIKES, SHARES AND COMMENTS WOULD BE REVERSED AND/OR DELETED, thus negating my entry in a bunch of contests.

I thought that it would be ever so important to get this message out to a community that I have interacted with for years and more often lately since becoming disabled. I love entering sweeps as I have been able to win so many wonderful things, and this is money that I have saved. Sweeping also makes me happy and I love to read about others that win. It keeps me busy and now I feel like all that has been taken away. There are so many sweeps I will miss out on, and so many that I will be afraid to enter as I am afraid my Facebook account will be permanently disabled.

I am not complaining or saying anything bad about anyone/anything, including Facebook. I just don't want this to happen to anyone else. With that said, is there anyone here that has experienced this? Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do? How can I avoid missing out on all the sweeps I entered? What if my name is drawn for some super awesome sweep and I get disqualified because the sponsor checks to make sure I have followed the directions and Facebook took them away? Any help would be AWESOME! Also, if there are any steps I can take with SA for some assistance with Facebook? Is this even possible?

Thank you in advance to everyone that has read the post and responded! :) Happy sweeping

Sounds like spam to me.Don't reply.I've NEVER had a problem with liking too many pages or entering sweeps and have been doing this for years also.

The initial contact came as a notification on Facebook, and the following messages were pop-ups on the site. This is what led me to think they were legit. :(

Once in awhile I will go into facebook and unlike some of the sites, I no longer enter contests at.. Lots of them are just one time contests and if they do have a new contest later, can always relike them. This will keep the number of my LIKES not as many. So far no problem when I do this. There could be a limit on the number of likes we can have at one time??

I actually tried to do my instant wins today, and all of the pages are unliked. It says "please like this page to enter". I try to hit like, and it says I am blocked from making this action. OMG, I am so mad. I can't enter anything. I sent Facebook an email and it says there will be no reply. Called the customer service number listed on the internet and it says that they no longer accept customer calls. I am sad. Sweeping is my purpose and now all the work ive done to enter is gone. :(

It seems like it depends on the time period in which they are liked. I had surgery and got behind with all my sweeps. This past week, since I am stuck in bed, I tried to catch them all up and I went through all the once a day entries and saved them. I can't find anything specific on Facebooks site with regard to the number of likes or the time frame.

I have reached a limit on 'likes' and was not able to 'like' any more until I 'unliked' a few, which is easy enough to do. Just go to your Facebook homepage, look at your list of 'likes' and unlike those which are no longer relevant. I'm not sure what the 'like' limit is. Either 1000 or 2000. I have also reached a limit on twitter for 'follows' but it is simple enough to 'unfollow' something which is also no longer relevant. The Twitter limit is 2000. Try going to your Facebook page and see if you can do this. It is possible that someone that you have 'liked' or 'followed' on Facebook is sending you these messages trying to get in to your account. Don't reply to the message directly. I have never received a message from Facebook saying that my account would be deactivated. Just that I had reached the limit of my 'likes'. I simply 'unliked' a few and was able to like the new one as soon as I tried.

I sent you a pm to let you know this post has been moved to General Sweeps Talk.

Thank you for sharing the warning, and thank you to all who posted helpful replies. If anyone else has had a similar experience, or good advice, please continue to reply. TY.

Thank you for that. I wasn't completely sure where to put it, I just knew I had to say something. Thank you for putting it in the right place and I look forward to anyone offering any advice on what I could do. Also, I tried "unliking" things and it still won't let me like anything else. Thanks again everyone for the help thus far.

Find "View Activity Log" and open it. You'll find all of your "likes" in chronological order by month & year. Mine goes back to Jan 2011. I've "unliked" everything through Feb 2013 where I have one sweep I'm still entering. I then have no activity till March 2014 when my current sweeps start to appear.

I'll usually go into the log once a month or so and "unlike" old sweeps that I'm sure have expired and prizes awarded.

I find it irritating that I must "like" a company before I can read the rules for a sweep. If for some reason I don't enter a sweep after I've read the rules, I immediately "unlike" it.

Just for kicks and giggles, I just counted my "likes" and there are 24 of 'em.

missjamielee - for your ACTIVITY PAGE;

Mine is:

So I assume you put yours in:

I compiled all the FB tips here:

Kicked off FB?

I've been kicked off FB a few times - it's a nightmare trying to get any help/answers!
Anyway, I just don't bother with it when it happens - I clear temp files/cookies then reboot and try to log in to FB again.
Sometimes it takes a few days, then it self corrects. :crazytongue:

If that doesn't work? You'll need a cell phone to get back on:

You have to send a copy of your ID if you can't get the text code. This has happened to a ton of sweepers in the past week (found a thread in Google search.) No amount of deleting cookies/logins/temp files, etc. will help you if you are locked out of Facebook like this. It's either text code, send in ID or nothing. If you make another account, I would assume it would be locked as well since you are only supposed to have one.

Post #5 deals with the LIKE issues

I was entering some of the crazy blog contests that require you to like upteen hundred pages for entries and after a while I would click the like button, it would show that I liked it, then a few seconds later, change back. After doing some searching on the internet, it appears that you can only have a combined total of 5000 friends and page likes. I tested it by unlike-ing a page, and was able to like another page. So, it now appears that I am going to have to do a major clean-up on fb and unlike a bunch of pages. Does anyone how a quick way to do this? It will take forever to do it one by one.

Now I feel the need to rant: I really hate facebook, but it seems all companies are starting to use them for sweeps. It used to be only smaller contests, but now a lot of the contests with huge prizes are using fb for their contest platform. It isn't that I mind entering through fb so much as it gives them way to much power. A while back they decided that for some reason my account was not legit (I have seen this happen to many sweepers) and locked me out of my account for several days. There were a lot of contests that I could not enter because of this. At anytime, for no reason, they can disable anyone's account and basically void all your entries in many sweeps. And now because all of these sites that require you to like them to enter, and fb's like limit, I am going to have to spend hours maintaining my account. I really wish fb would go away like myspace and the others did in the past, but it would be replaced by the latest, greatest, annoying social media.

Amy, there's a far easier way to UNLIKE a Facebook Page:

Bring up the FB page you want to unlike, scroll down and look for the following options on the left:

Create a Page
Get Updates via SMS
Get Updates via RSS
Unlike
Report Page
Share

Click 'Unlike' and you're done!

Btw, some current Bud Light promotions have the same problem as Trop's did that you mentioned, so this is a much more convenient way to deal with it :)

I just got blocked out of Facebook today for having too many likes. According to Facebook, it's because this behavior is "annoying to others." But then that's why I have a FB just for enterings sweeps---so all my friends don't have to see the constant sweeps activity.

The like limit on fb used to be around 5,000...whenever I hit 5033, fb would not allow me to like any more pages and then I would have to go through the awfulness that is unliking hundreds of pages. I think fb has changed the rules though because I am well over 5,000 and its continued to let me like more pages.

I wouldn't mind the having to go back and unlike pages.. but why the blocking for 30 days and un-liking everything before then?? I've had my facebook since 2007, and I'm constantly using it for regular personal use. I actually hide my like feed so that it DOESN'T annoy others, and still blocked? They urge us to like pages by suggesting them and urging companies to use FB in order to gain likes and awareness of their product.. but then punish those who help these small companies? The worst part is there is absolutely NO warning. Why would they tell me it's been disabled for only a week, but then moments later tell me it's blocked for a month? I couldn't find any rules anywhere on FB stating being blocked for liking too many pages in a short amount of time. The only thing similar is where it shows that you can be blocked between a few hours and a few days. Hopefully all the FB sweeps that require you to like the page in order to see the entry form do not go back and check that you 'like' them.

Sigh.
