:sunny: Busy, busy weekend. Our neighbors grandson just returned home from Iraq. I am having a big welcome home party for him at my house tomorrow. Been busy fixin up lots of goodies.Still have lots to do, but decided to take a little break. There will be lots of food and drink!! I'm making Oysters on the grill, Smoked barbeque pork, potato salad, baked beans, macaroni & cheese, deviled eggs, cheese squares, salsa, fresh baked bread and cream cheese crescents. I made the salsa this morning as it is better the 2nd day, but it tastes so good I can't stop tasting it! Some of my other neighbors said they would also bring some food. We have such a great fun neighborhood. Guess I'd better get back to the kitchen.

wow how nice of you to do this tell that young man thank you so much for his service and I'm glad he's home safe. Now I am hungry everything sounds great. You are a great neighbor. :)

What a nice gesture! Please also send him my thank you's for his service to the country.

 The party was a big success! We all had a great time and everyone ate, ate and ate some more. :crazytongue:
He wanted to play dominoes with us as he did before joining the Army. So after everyone left we set up the dominoes for some Mexican Train. We must have tuckered him out as he is still sleeping in the guest room. We invited him to spend the night so he could get a good nights rest.
I gave him your thanks and he said Thank you, he will pass it on to the rest of his troop. He says it means alot to them that people do support them.

Reading this made me cry because I feel so deeply for these young men and women. They are sacrificing their lives for our freedom while we sit here in our confy homes. I am so proud of them. God bless these Americans who serve their country proudly and bravely.

He got to come home, that's awesome! How old is he and will he have to go back? I also thank him for his sacrafices, I know there are many, to protect this great country. I was just chatting with my son Jason online. He's in Iraq also and he told me he might not get to come home in Sept. as previously thought. He may have to stay longer but not sure how long.

:sunny: Keith is 28. He leaves to go back on Saturday the 10th. He is in the Army. What branch is your son in? You be sure to thank him for me and if he lived nearby, I would be throwing a party for him too! Here's praying he comes home safe and as scheduled.

Jason is in the Army National Guard. He deployed out of Fort Bliss, Texas last January. His rank is Specialist and his job is artillary, sharpshooter and combat field medic. At least he has medical supplies on him if he needs it and can treat himself. I still worry though. He's stationed at Camp Bucca which is an Airforce Military camp where they house prisoners. They have it pretty good there, showers, air conditioning, cooks, trailers to sleep in and a few stores. They can buy books, music, tv's, snacks, etc so that's good.
