What kinds of credit card inducements do you prefer?

For quite a while, I had an Amazon Visa, got lots of gift certificates and spent them all. Now I'm into flyer miles. I have a Frontier air credit card, and the inducement is spend $2500 and get a free flight. First year is free.

Maybe I'll cancel after the year, and get another plan. The goodies are endless if you have good credit. :sunny:

none. If I cant pay cash I dont need it. :nono: Its way to easy to throw them suckers down. cut up mine several years ago and havent used any since.

I just go for a good interest rate - I can't track like I used to, so I figured I'd lose out on any benefits! :crazytongue:

This is great, you made them into plastic toothpicks. CCs are only good if you can watch your spending like a hawk, and pay in full every month. Otherwise, get rid of 'em.

I tend to pay them in full every month and put a good amount on them each month.

I have one card that I get frequent flyer miles on. With the requirement to have activity on account more regularly than I'm flying that airline lately, this is keeping the frequent flyer account active.

Other than that, lately, I like the cash back. Typically 1%. It isn't much, but adds up, especially when you use it for everyday things AND PAY OFF IN FULL EACH MONTH.

One thing I have that I'm not sure I like much or not.... is cash back, but... it goes towards the mortgage. So, for every $2500 I charge, knock $25 off the mortage...

I do watch for good freebies to signup for new cards, though don't want to have too many, even if they are no fee. I got $250 in GCs to signup for an AmEx business card, w/ no fee for first year. Liked that.... I thought I would use the card more but the one place I wanted it for doesn't accept AmEx so I'm not sure if I'll renew, even if I get another $100 GC to renew.

Same here! :headbang:

I haven't had a credit card in 10 yrs!

If I did have one though, I would want one that gets free travel or hotel rooms, etc.

We don't use our credit cards for anything other than for what we normally would buy. We use them as a convenience especially when travelling, etc. We pay them in full each month. We have a few different offers depending on the card, but I do love the Amazon.com gift certificates.

There is NEVER a good reason to own a credit card.
No one ever got rich off their credit card "perks"

Not true - you have to have good credit to get credit - like to buy a house.

As to "getting rich"? Lots of companies offer "perks" to get you to use their service/buy their product - ie: mypoints, etc. The point is not to get rich, but to save money.

If you use CC's regularly, pay in full each month, you avoid paying the interest and save money. :headbang:
