Winning Coupons

Do you find your grocery stores will not accept winning coupons that need to be printed?

I am thrilled to win them, it is just like winning cash. I received two $1.00 coupons from Cheerios, but our grocery store gave my husband a very difficult time. They said the coupons can be easily counterfeited so will not accept on-line coupons. Just won a $1.00 coupon from Kikkomans and know will have the same issue.

What do you do? Just accept the store won't use them so don't enter those sweeps, email the sponsor, argue with the store manager?

We have a store like that in our area - and I just stopped going there. This is a rural area and not many stores so it was not convenient, but I'll take my business elsewhere, even if it means driving farther. When I have several coupons it is worth it to make the trip. I usually do a 'big" shopping trip once a month.

I also have stores like that in my area. Most times Publix will take them, if not for a free item.

Yesterday I won a Kikkoman b1g1f coupon and hope they will take this. If not guess will pass on to someone that can use it.

If you have any trouble using a printed coupon, email the people you got the coupon from with the name, address, and phone number of the store refusing to take them; i.e. SmartSource, RedPlum, Kikkomans, etc.

Then, email the corporate offices of the store regarding the problem.

I know that I and at least one other member here that live on Long Island did this, because the Waldbaums grocery stores out here would not accept printed coupons. Some months afterwards their weekly flier stated the coupons they will accept which included internet coupons. They advertised this for weeks, and we never again had problems with them taking printed coupons.

Then, there are those stores that the manager does his own thing or misinterprets corporate policy and miscommunicates this to the employees.

Our local wrinky dink little Wal-Mart was doing some crazy things like refusing to let you use more than one of each coupon. I contacted Wal-Mart, and they emailed me corporate policy regarding accepting coupons which I carry around with me in case any of their Wal-Marts gives me any problems again. They also assured me that this would be addressed with the store manager.

It almost always pays to address any problems or complaints with corporate about anything, even restaurants. They may compensate you, and it helps to improve service, etc, down the road.

I live in a REALLY rural area ... in fact on an island ... with one grocery store. They don't take printed coupons ... AT ALL! And I can't really blame them. Too much room for fraud there. So I just don't bother with those things and I find out I can still live fine without them. :crazytongue: One doesn't want to create a ruckus at our only store and get banned for life!

Is getting 15 cents off something really worth arguing with a store manager for 2 hours? Nope.

??? ...there is no such thing. They are called "Big Box" stores for a reason! :crazytongue:

Thanks for your suggestions. Maybe I'll have the manager of my Shop-rite check out SA and see for herself they are legitimate.

Loren - 15 cents isn't worth it, but saving serveral dollars at a time is, especially if you are able to combine it with the store coupons. I've bought items for free that way.

I don't even think I've seen a 15 cents off coupon in about 30 years! :error:

No need to even argue with the store manager; just let corporate straighten their butt out. If it's corporate policy not to accept internet coupons, then they'll let you know--end of story! :)

Ditto on the savings being worth it. We save $100+/$200+ in coupon savings (doubled, sometimes tripled) in any given week

 You've got more time/balls than me then ... best of luck. Obviously you don't mind the time incurred vs rewards received for an item 'you wouldn't normally purchase anyways' factor. But for me I don't prefer to **** off my local store by harassing them over a coupon. (the manager is a 'friend' and drinking buddy of mine.) In a town of 500 people that will just get you "run outta town on a rail" or "tarred and feathered". But if one has a point to make ... one can always find another Island to live on.

But you big city folk don't have to worry about stuff like that ... but I guess it's a trade off.

Hate you? No. Feel sorry for you? Yes. So, much sarcasm, negativity, criticism, etc., from one person. Just doesn't seem like you're in a happy place in your life!

Just an FYI, I get so much for free or next to nothing, I give away a lot. I believe in helping other people, not kicking them around or putting them down.
