For those that aren't aware of this, Microsoft has extended the warranty on the Xbox 360 to three years. Those who had to pay out of pocket for repairs will be reimbursed. You can get the information you need off of www.xbox360.com. They're sending us a mailer to send ours back.

For those who aren't aware of this, the Xbox 360 has major problems where it will stop working; and the lights turn red ("the red ring of death"). It also is known for scratching disks. From the looks of it, most Xbox 360 owner's consoles fried. Some people have had to repair them two or three times, had them replaced, and still the problems persist.

I don't know if they were ever able to rectify the problem on the newer ones, but good luck to you if you win one!! :crazytongue:

 TY for the info LIDARKSIDE

My son has had no problems (he credits never turning it off :nono: ) but his buddy had the red ring of death problem, so I'll let him know :headbang:

We had "The Ring Of Death" also. Microsoft paid all shipping and repairs, although my kids were without it for about 3 weeks. VERY common problem with the system!

I was about to respond earlier that my boyfriend has had good luck with his xbox 360 even though he's heard the stories....and then he called a few minutes ago to tell me that the red ring appeared today. I saw it in a Target store a few weeks ago and we got a good laugh about it. I guess it's not so funny anymore!

To add to his crummy day..he lost his $400 work cell phone and will have to replace that. He's extremely good at keeping track of stuff, especially his pricey gadgets so I'm shocked he lost it!

poor guy!

Is there a reason this is under "General Sweepstakes Talk"? It's not sweepstakes-related!

I think it's related as many people try to enter to win an xbox 360 or have won one and are unaware of this problem and the fact that microsoft is stepping up to fix those that break. I know it may not seem directly related but seeing as many of the topics are not frequented by all board goers I think it's appropriate to put in a more visable place
