There are people who are members of different sites. I use three sites just to make sure I don't miss any good ones I want to enter. It doesn't take much time to scan through them. Ten to twelve hours a week isn't much time at all to be neglecting anything. I do far more than that and the all the work still gets done in the house and then some. Maybe, if you work full-time it's a different story though; but for some of us serious sweepers, this equates to a job that pays off.
 
I can't even figure out how you can spend 10 hours a day! I spend at most 2 and I enter everything I'd want to win.

The only "reality" shows I watch are the HGTV-type ones where they decorate, clean, and fix up houses. I've never really gotten all those other ones, but I know they are seriously popular and cheap to make - which is why all the traditional-style shows (drama, sitcom, etc) I like keep getting canceled!
 
I agree about how these shows make people look. I watch sometimes, more out of curiousity, but sometimes I can't watch. I often wonder how the people who don't even have tv's even know about trying out for the show!

They must pay them quite a bit of money to go on the show - I can't imagine how anyone could do that. I'm sure some of it is embellished a bit, but wow...that's all I can say. I will watch tonight, as I'm just dying to see the "sweeping" woman!

As far as how many hours I sweep - my friend asked me the other day and when I added it all up, it's about 8 hours a day..kind of scary really. Of course, I'm checking email and doing other things during these times too. I usually do them in two hour blocks. Like 6-8 a.m., 10-12, 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. I have plenty of time to do other things, like clean the house, cook, errands, spend time with family, etc. I don't work, and I do consider this a "job" (a fun one!). So when people say they sweep 8 hours a day, it doesn't necessarily mean it's from 9-5!

A few weeks ago, a recruiter from ABC TV’s Wife Swap contacted me through my web site, www.ParenTeam.com. Apparently, they were looking for families with dads who are heavily involved in their children’s lives; and being in a SAHD (stay-at-home dad) family, we fit the bill.

For $20,000, when the show airs, I would agree to fly to an undisclosed location to swap places with a woman who has agreed to do the same. My “swapped” family would likely be one in which the husband is never home, never spends time with his family, and doesn’t even know the names of his children anymore. My family would get this husband’s poor wife.

For $20,000, when the show airs, my family would have to spend two weeks with this woman, a total stranger. My children and husband would have to appear around town with her and parade across national TV with our doors wide open for all to see and hear.

For $20,000, I would have to conjure up confrontations with the absent husband, tell him he is wrong in his ways, and devise ideas to force him to see his errors (Wife Swap always likes good drama in the form of arguments.). Likewise, my husband and the “other woman” would be “encouraged” by the show to create their own drama.

For $20,000, when the show airs, we would have little privacy; and our friends, neighbors, and relatives would see us completely exposed, as it was, warts and all.

For $20,000, I would be away from my family for about two weeks. Since we live in an urban area, my husband worried that the “other woman” might be from a rural area and unfamiliar with city living. I worried about not being able to tuck in my own children at bedtime and what it would be like to tuck in somebody else's in their own home while somebody else tucked in mine in my own home.

After chatting with the show’s recruiter and my family, I came to the conclusion that for $20,000, when the show airs, it wasn’t worth it to exploit my family on national TV. My family life is sacred to me and I plan to keep it that way, thank you very much.
 
Thanks for the info - that is interesting. All of that for $20,000 - I can't believe it. That's interesting that they "encourage" them to pick fights...I figured as much. I could never do that show. :nono:
 
I couldn't do something like this, not even for $20,000 and put my family through all of that. It takes some ***** for someone to do it. $20k sounds nice, really nice but, I couldn't do it.

I also agree with another poster, I wouldn't leave my husband alone with another woman alone for 2 weeks. :nono:

I dont watch much TV unless a movie is on.. .. so I wont be watching this. :laughing: sounds

besides from what I have read in this thread it will probably make sweepers look bad. :nono:

I second that!

Pretty much all reality tv has some degree of scripting.

It also seems to me that these production/network people prey on a certain type of mentality of people that can be easily exploited on tv.
 
Ok, I am watching this nonsense and this family is not me. I sweep and my family benefits. If my computer is broke, my outside family is concerned, they know it's my hobby and I do it to get things for everybody.

I did not have to spend a dime for Christmas, I won everything. This has saved my household tons of cash and it did not take 10 hours a day to do it. Unless I missed something, I don't see any big stuff they have won.

For 10 hours everyday, I had better win a car, house and some cash.
 
Yep I want to whole world to know, this family does not speak for sweepers. It is more positive than they made it look.

Well if the producers wanted to give sweepers a bad rap, they certainly accomplished it!!

Nothing like making us all look like a bunch of money wasting, garbage digging, child neglecting, UPS chasing WACKO'S!!!

Who in their right mind would BUY STUFF THEY DON'T NEED, just for codes?? Did you see all that kitty litter she bought? They don't even have a darn cat!! What an absolute waste of money!!

And their ''wins??'' That was it? Seemed more like a bunch of garbage and samples then it did wins.

One thing I couldn't believe was the mother. I sure as heck wouldn't marry some man, unless he had a solid relationship with my children. You DON'T leave it up to the kids to make the first move....what an idiot he was. :cussing: He was more worried about what was in that stupid box that UPS dropped off, then he was about what was going on with the kids.

Don't even get me started on how spoiled those 2 little girls were.

And the husband needs some Prozak or something. He's waaaaaaaaaaay beyond obsessed!!

...and that just goes to prove right there that these reality shows aren't looking for "normal" people. They're looking for whack jobs!

...and I'm sure they can find plenty more at that other site.

Just goes to prove what alot of us were saying before!
 
I like watching reality shows but this was a sad one to watch tonight. I believe sweeping wife got what she wanted by having hubby better connect with the older daughters, but boy was that family screwed up. I like to sweep and that just seemed a bit tooooo out there to me. Dad actually enjoyed picking up bottle cap trash in that outfit.
