***READ b4 posting*** HOW TO post your thread, RTF, and C&P your OP

If you post an ask and don't vote/RTF, your thread will be locked until you return and resume voting.

While you are only required to vote at least 1x every 3 days for a 1x ask, you do need to vote daily if you ask others to vote daily for you - if you vote more often, not only do you avoid having your thread locked, you'll garner more votes.

Thank you

Occasionally I'll see a winner's thread, or a vote request & if you won/are asking us to vote for you for a sweeps that is not listed at SA, please take a moment to let us know about it by posting to our Latest or New Sweepstakes forum:

Re: ***READ b4 posting*** HOW TO post your thread, RTF, and C&P your OP

FYI - if a member posts an ask in your thread, but doesn't start their own thread, it's up to you whether you vote for them or not.

Be aware - they usually only post/vote that one time and their posts will be modded in 3 days if they don't return, so you *might* want to wait to see if they will stick around.

Re: ***READ b4 posting*** HOW TO post your thread, RTF, and C&P your OP

SA rules were instituted to protect SA'ers from those who joined SA just to get votes.

It was determined that having a 2 week minimum membership requirement would weed those out those who joined SA just to get votes, and for the most part it does.

So SA will do part of the work for you, by weeding out those who aren't eligible to ask, and by using the question mark icon to denote those who have been here at least 2 weeks, but haven't yet shown they RTF.

With multiple avenues to ask for votes {SA, FB, etc.} as in with the contest you entered, there are rules you must abide by.

The RTF rule {RTF = Return The Favor} is a rule that SA requires.

However, we still do get some SA'ers who feel the requirement to post at SA {that they did/do indeed vote} is asking too much of them.

This requirement {to post to threads that you voted} was instituted because multiple SA'ers were pm'ing me, upset that they voted for others, but that those people weren't RTF'ing.

SA cannot force people to vote for others - I personally think we are all adults, and should accept that there are people who don't prioritize basic consideration for others as we might.

Asking for votes is asking for a favor from others, and they will choose to vote for you or not. If you do decide to vote for an ask, before that asker has proven that they will RTF? Your choice, and your risk.

If I entered these types of contests, I'd understand {as the newest asker} to vote for the active asks after posting my OP instead of just posting my OP and waiting.

Re: ***READ b4 posting*** HOW TO post your thread, RTF, and C&P your OP

NO shortened links please. If you MUST post a shortened link? Include the links to the sponsor/contest.

Re: HOW TO post your thread, RTF, and C&P your OP

If you have been an SA member at least 2 weeks, and you post an ask but you don't take the initiative to vote for the open asks in this forum?

I won't wait 4 days to lock your thread.

SA is a small community of good people who sweep. Coming to SA to ask for votes when you don't support SA in any way - through congrats posts, comments, or votes - well, that's easy to find out

So if you post an ask and sit back waiting to RTF only *after* someone posts they voted for you and asking for votes is all you do at SA?

I'll lock your thread.

The whole point of the rules was to give guidelines to help and protect SA'ers.

Posting the minimum {every 3 days and only to your own thread} tells me you don't wish to belong to our community and are only here to use SA'ers for votes. :nono:

Re: ***READ b4 posting*** HOW TO post your thread, RTF, and C&P your OP

Reminder - if you have an ask but life intrudes so you won't be able to RTF daily/every 3 days?

If you will be unable to RTF at least once every 3 days, due to no computer access/vacation/etc., just post why to your ask thread & I won't have to lock it.

Re: ***READ b4 posting*** HOW TO post your thread, RTF, and C&P your OP

Ready to ask for votes? Please don't post your ask until your 2 weeks have passed, but when they have?

PLEASE start your own thread so we can easily keep track if we already voted for you if it a 1x, and track & be reminded to vote for you if it's a daily, thanks!

Since you are new to this forum, people expect you to vote for all the posted asks first

Don't forget - we need the end date & vote frequency in the title - See this thread for tips:

http://www.sweepstakesplus.com/smf/voting-tips-t25218.0.html

PLEASE start your own thread

ONE thread per ask. NO limit on # of asks per asker.

Some of ONLY vote, {we don't ask for votes, we just vote, and we only vote if you have a thread} so we go by threads to know who to vote for, how often, and when it ends - If you have trouble/any questions, just ask!

You can post here:

http://www.sweepsadvantage.com/foru...read-have-ask-dos-donts-voting-etiquette.html

HOWEVER..

If you choose not to start your own thread, but you do post to other threads asking for votes, you still need to RTF and post or you risk having your posts removed and being banned from posting.

VOTERS - please pay attention to the ask frequency - a 1x only needs ONE vote from you, so only post you voted once.

BUT... If you already posted and voted but the OP hasn't RTF'ed to your thread?

Please post "I already voted for you please RTF" and remember to include the date or C&P your previous post so they will have an accurate count of how many people voted, thanks.

HOW TO C&P {Copy & Paste} your OP {Original Post}:

Just go to YOUR thread and click on REPLY WITH QUOTE when you are at your OP. Right click and click on SELECT ALL and then COPY.

Open the thread where you are voting and hit REPLY

Right click {with your cursor in the reply box} and click on PASTE.

You MUST add at least 10 characters - try posting above or below your quote with "I voted, please RTF" since the system doesn't recognize/count the quoted words.

Now your ask is posted, which provides your voting link. - if they click the >> next to your name, it will take them to YOUR thread, where they can easily RTF!

Reminder - if you have an ask but life intrudes so you won't be able to RTF daily/every 3 days?

If you will be unable to RTF at least once every 3 days, due to no computer access/vacation/illness/etc., just post why to your ask thread & I won't have to lock it!

Reminder...

The vote/referral ask rules

Vote for and post to the active asks in this forum {the members who do RTF will have a thumbs up} including your ask in your post.
Make sure you RTF at least as often as you ask others to vote for you, but you'll create more goodwill and won't risk having your thread locked if you try to RTF daily.

In a nutshell:

You MUST be a member for at least 2 weeks to ask. You may vote and give a heads up that you will have an ask when your 2 weeks have passed, but NO links allowed.

You've been a member more than 2 weeks?

Post only to active {unstickied} asks in this {Referral and Vote Requests} forum or risk a BAN.
You may also include your link in your signature if you are a PLUS member.
ONE thread per ask
NO posting your ask in other forums, via pm's, or posting to comments allowed.
RTF at least as often as you ask others to vote for you.

{RTF = Return The Favor}

Post your ask thread - include the name of the contest/sponsor, end date, how often we can vote, and a direct link. NO shortened links please. If you MUST post a shortened link? Include the links to the sponsor/contest.

So your title will look like this:

DATE: *{month}/{day}* VOTE FREQUENCY: 1x, 1x per IP, Daily, Daily {24 hr} etc. SPONSOR/CONTEST TITLE: {sponsor}.com/SA title, etc.

EXAMPLE: *5/31* (midnight) 1x like Nat Photo Month

If you posted an ask thread, but you didn't return to vote {RTF} and after 3 days you can't find your thread?

Your thread was locked, and then moved off the board.

To get your thread unlocked and returned to this forum?

Vote for the active asks, and *continue* to vote, and your thread will be reinstated.

If you ignore these rules and just start a new thread?

Then you will be banned from posting.

If you post an ask, but don't RTF, your thread will be locked.

If you repeatedly ignore the forum rules, you run the risk of being banned.

Busy? Reminder ...

Reminder - if you have an ask but life intrudes so you won't be able to RTF daily/every 3 days?

If you will be unable to RTF at least once every 3 days, due to no computer access/vacation/illness/etc., just post why to your ask thread & I won't have to lock it!

Want to ensure you VOTE/RTF for everyone?

You could just vote for those who posted in your thread, but then you might miss some. Plus, I {and others} only vote where the OP has shown they do vote and post to threads other than just their own.

It goes by 1st posted - so when you have an ask, 1st you post your thread, then you go down the forum and vote/post your C&P to the THUMB'S UP threads.

If those who post an ask after you did do the same, then everyone is happy.

I only vote where the OP has shown they do vote and post to threads other than just their own.

I won't vote for those who post only to their own thread, not taking the time to post they voted in the active asks.

I bookmark the active asks in my VOTE folder and once a day {usually after 24 hours have passed since at least 1 ask is always on a 24 hour clock :p } I 1st log into FB & Twitter, then I open my VOTE folder in tabs, then vote and post I voted to the askers threads.

Instead of typing it all out each time, I use my SA user name in FIND, going thread by thread, & I just C&P my last vote post {adding vote count as needed and deleting the QUOTE lines top & bottom} after I vote.

My system ensures I don't miss anyone!

This is why it so important that if you post an ask that you vote for the active asks in the forum {and post that you voted to the asker's thread} at least as often as you ask others to vote for you.

All askers are working hard to get votes for their contest so they take the time to RTF and acknowledge their fellow SA'ers. This matters.

Also, please take into account, if you just posted an ask, that those who already have had an ask posted will expect you to vote for them first - just posting your ask will probably get you a few voters, but if you only RTF to those that post in your thread, you limit your opportunies for votes!

We advocate people C&P'ing their OP - just click on their name {in their C&P post} and it will take you to their thread, where you can easily post you RTF'ed!

As to threads you haven't voted in? It's usually by 1st posted - so when you have an ask, you post your thread, then you go down the forum and vote/post your C&P, and those who post an ask after you did, will do the same, and everyone is happy.

Where we run into problems is when people post and leave, post only in their own threads, or those who post a new thread and expect those who posted prior to come to them.

I don't ask for votes, I only vote for SA'ers who support each other {by RTF'ing to the other threads} but if I did? I sure wouldn't think to ask and not give!

you may not post your ask until your 2 weeks have elapsed - you WILL be permabanned and need to petition admin to be reinstated in 2 weeks if you post your link prior to 2 weeks of membership.

You may post in the interim, and vote for the active asks if you'd like to, but you may *not* post your ask until your 2 weeks have elapsed:

Just joined SA?

Clarification - if you are new here, and you will be asking for votes when your 2 weeks are up, you may vote for the active asks, and let them know that you will be posting an ask when your 2 weeks are up.

NO links, entry names, etc. allowed. Just that you will have an ask when your 2 weeks are up.

I'd post something like:

Hi, I voted for you and when my 2 weeks at SA have passed, I'll be be posting my ask, I do hope you'll remember me and RTF then, thanks!

The rules are basic - 2 week minimum membership, post 1 thread per ask, and vote at least once every 3 days.

The vote rules are basic;

be a member for at least 2 weeks,
ONE thread per ask
Vote for & post you voted for the other asks in their thread
Post the end date, vote frequency and contest/sponsor in your ask thread TITLE.

Please do NOT use the THUMB'S UP - I will add it once you've been affirmed as someone who RTF's, thanks!
